EAT

Cinnamon Kitchen Battersea

Vivek Singh – the man behind acclaimed modern Indian restaurant The Cinnamon Club – opened his latest restaurant at Battersea Power Station in 2018. The sleek, urban-inspired restaurant located within a railway arch is open for brunch, lunch and dinner as well as cocktails and light bites. The kitchen serves seasonal dishes with Vivek’s trademark modern Indian flavours: highlights include laal mass, a fiery Rajasthani lamb curry; chargrilled seabass in a banana leaf parcel; and vegan bitter melon with buckwheat and amaranth seeds. There’s also an imaginative cocktail list by award-winning mixologist Tony Conigliaro, and bar bites inspired by the dishes found on the Mumbai Jaipur Pink City Express train route.

Fiume

Italian chef Francesco Mazzei was one of the first to open a restaurant at Circus West Village. Named Fiume (the Italian word for 'river'), Mazzei oversees the site as chef patron alongside head chef Francesco Chiarelli. Sitting right on the bank of the Thames, the restaurant offers unrivalled views of the river and has a large Mediterranean piazza-style terrace to enjoy them from. Inspired by the traditional food of Mazzei’s homeland, the restaurant serves hearty recipes made with fresh, vibrant ingredients from the Med. Expect the likes of wild boar ragu pappardelle; Scottish crab and Amalfi lemon linguini; and aubergine parmigiana.

Mother

From Copenhagen’s cool meatpacking district, Kødbyen, Mother is an Italian pizza restaurant which aims to offer simple soul food. The first international outpost of what is regarded as the best pizza restaurant in Denmark, the team’s signature organic sourdough pizzas (made with seawater) is what guests come for, alongside its homemade mozzarella, wine and beer. At the centre of the restaurant is a wood-fired oven, which churns out daily bread, sourdough pizza and roasted fish, meat, and vegetables. Mother’s wine list is a micro-list, using only a handful of high-quality Italian producers that the team knows personally.

Tapas Brindisa

Tapas Brindisa Battersea is the culmination of 30 years of experience as purveyors of Spanish food and culture. At its newest site, the team has gone right back to its roots, and the menu is inspired by the best ingredients from across Spain and its islands. Seasonal tapas and bar snacks sit alongside a line-up of artisanal plates from a devoted cured food counter offering meats, cheeses, and fish. Enjoy a relaxed brunch at the terraza-style bar area overlooking the river, grab a seat at the or gather for an intimate supper with friends in the dining room and watch the theatre of the open kitchen.

Tonkotsu

Tonkotsu is named after the lip-smacking, creamy ramen typical in Kyushu, Japan’s southern-most island. Mighty bowls of ramen are at the centre of the restaurant's menu, made with 18-hour slow cooked broths and homemade noodles. The menu also includes perfectly crisp fried chicken marinated in soy, ginger, garlic and mirin, glorious gyoza made fresh in-house every day, and a super selection of Japanese whiskies and sake. Our opinion? This is up there with London’s best ramen.

Wright Brothers

A lively neighbourhood restaurant with an open-style kitchen and marble counter where guests can watch the chefs at work, Battersea is home to Wright Brothers’ first Josper charcoal oven. The seafood experts have four other restaurants in Soho, Spitalfields, South Kensington and Borough Market, and this newest fifth location offers the same fresh seafood from the team’s very own wholesale business in Billingsgate Market. On the menu, expect to find oysters from around the British Isles, France and beyond, seafood platters and seasonal fish. The restaurant also features an elegant private dining room for up to 22 people and an outdoor terrace with views across the river.
