Where To Celebrate The Coronation
Created in partnership with Regent Street and St James's
the DECORATIONS
The Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6th May, 2023. To celebrate the historic occasion, there’s an exciting line-up of events across Regent Street and St James’s neighbourhood, as well as special decorations that celebrate the best of British. From Tuesday 25th April, 175 flags will return to some of London’s most recognisable locations, from Regent Street to Waterloo Place and historic Jermyn Street. Open to all, St James’s Market will shine brightly with a must-see public art installation inspired by the official Coronation emblem and created by James Glancy Design – the same team behind Regent Street’s magical Christmas lights. Over the bank holiday weekend, visitors can take pictures of the installation and sit on deck chairs to watch televised Coronation content on the big screens for free.
Home to the largest cluster of Royal Warrant Holders in the country, you’ll also find Britain’s finest shopping, drinking and dining experiences in this area, from the flagship stores of Regent Street to the fine craftmanship that defines St James’s. Here’s what else you can look forward to…
the FOOD & DRINK
It wouldn’t be a celebration without some special food and drink to mark the occasion. For starters, 280-year-old institution Wiltons has created a seven-course menu featuring dishes like Jerusalem artichoke velouté, wild mushroom risotto, lamb with wild garlic, and green apple sorbet. Bentley’s Oyster Bar & Grill will serve ‘Bentley’s Smoked Salmon’ – a dish which chef Richard Corrigan cooked for Queen Elizabeth II at her 80th birthday – with crispy egg and caviar, as well its signature royal fish pie. For something more casual, The Beau Bar & Restaurant, Piccadilly has created a Coronation chicken burger and a ‘Bonnie Prince Charlie Scotch Egg’ – perfect for a bite to eat in the sunshine.
If you’d prefer finger sandwiches and scones, The Langham hotel will serve its ‘Fit for a King Afternoon Tea’ while Fortnum & Mason's Tea Salon will showcase an afternoon tea featuring some of the King's favourite ingredients. The menu includes sandwiches filled with egg mayonnaise; cucumber with minted pea and horseradish; salt beef with kohlrabi and tarragon sour cream; and trout with preserved lemon and dill cream cheese. There’s also a selection of freshly baked scones served with Fortnum’s strawberry preserve, lemon curd and Somerset clotted cream; and sweet treats like vanilla mousse lollipops; and chocolate and strawberry cupcakes – all served with Fortnum & Mason tea or a glass of champagne.
the GARDEN PARTY
On Saturday 6th May from 12pm, The Stafford London hotel will host a garden party in the courtyard of its American Bar. The space will be fully decorated in the spirit of the Coronation and there will be music, outdoor games and a selection of British party food. For £135pp guests can indulge in all of the food stalls, enjoy the entertainment, and receive a glass of English sparkling wine on arrival.
the SHOPPING
Regent Street and St James’s are home to the country’s largest collection of Royal Warrants – granted to companies who regularly supply goods to the Royal Family. Whether you’re visiting London over the weekend or want to hit the shops after the Coronation Procession, from soaps and silverware to delicious cheese, there’s something for everyone.

the OVERNIGHT EXPERIENCE
If you want to go all out, book a stay at one of London’s most luxury hotels. Hotel Café Royal has launched a ‘Crown Jewels Experience’ for those staying in the Royal Suite. Guests can look forward to a tour of the Tower of London and a private viewing of the Crown Jewels, comprising more than 100 objects and over 23,000 gemstones, as well as other royal-inspired experiences. Meanwhile, over at Dukes London, the hotel has created a ‘Royal Connoisseur’ package which includes private access to some of St James’s most elegant Royal Warrant Holders, as well as hotel experiences, cocktails, dishes and in-room favours all designed to reflect the new monarch’s tastes.
