Normal People’s Paul Mescal leads the cast of this new production of Tennessee Williams’ seminal play. Opening on Saturday 17th December, this modern adaptation of the 1940s classic tells the story of Blanche DuBois, a troubled woman who experiences a series of tragedies. FEEL FESTIVE:
Carols at St Paul’s Cathedral
St Paul’s is one of the capital’s oldest and most important cathedrals. Over the next few weeks, its hosting a series of free Christmas carol services. With daily carols until the end of December, each one takes place in the grand nave, lit up by candles and twinkling lights. On Sunday 18th December, there’s a service at 3pm with readings for advent and music from the cathedral choir, as well as a special carol service on Christmas Eve at 4pm. There’s no need to book a ticket, simply turn up and enjoy.

One of our favourite restaurants in Chelsea, Stanley’s, has opened an alpine pop-up on its terrace in partnership with Whispering Angel. Decorated like a retro Chamonix bar, guests will be transported to the Alps while enjoying the brand’s classic Côtes de Provence Rosé or Rock Angel rosé with paired snacks – choose from Scottish cod with sprouting broccoli, butter sauce and samphire; or heritage pork with pickled mustard and black truffle sauce.

Borough Market is hosting its annual cheese evening on Thursday 15th December from 6-9pm. A great chance to stock up for Christmas, the market will have a range of cheese from around the world, as well as homemade chutneys, ciders and wines. The Lost Rhino at The Natural History Museum
The Natural History Museum opens a new exhibition on Friday about the importance of rhinos and how conservationists are using technology to prevent them from becoming extinct. At the centre of the exhibition is The Substitute, a video installation by artist Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg that brings visitors up close with a digitally recreated, life-sized northern white rhino – a species which is on the brink of extinction. There’s also a print of Albrecht Dürer's famous – but inaccurate – rhino from 1515, plus a rhino from the museum's collection. Tickets are free.
