Open House London

Celebrating London’s unique architecture and neighbourhoods, Open House Festival takes place across the capital from today until Tuesday 12th September. Visitors can tune into talks, take part in guided tours and drop into studios – with some great chances to look inside some of the city’s coolest buildings. Highlights include a self-guided tour of the Victorian Crystal Palace Subway (Friday 15th September), a tour of Haberdashers' Hall in Barbican (Saturday 16th September) and a tour of a design-led Victorian mid-terrace house in Walthamstow (Saturday 9th & Friday 15th September).

London Podcast Festival

London Podcast Festival 2023 kicks off this weekend with its first batch of live recordings. Taking place in front of an audience at Kings Place in King’s Cross, the annual festival will showcase some of the UK’s most popular shows – and there’s something for everyone. Highlights over the next two weeks include a recording of ‘I Weigh’ with Jameela Jamil (Friday 8th September), an evening with the hosts of ‘The Divorce Social’ podcast (Saturday 9th September) and an episode of ‘Fame’ with Jo Elvin and some of her famous friends (Saturday 9th September). Jikoni Fundraiser

Award-winning chef, author and activist Ravinder Bhogal will host Jikoni’s annual fundraiser, in collaboration with Emma Freud, at her restaurant in Marylebone on Sunday 10th September. The evening will raise vital money for the St Mary’s Children’s Fund by the Imperial Health Charity, which supports seriously ill children across the UK. Tickets cost £150pp which includes dinner from her new book Comfort & Joy. Expect dishes like burnt courgette and cardamon with saffron sheermal, hot and sour sweetcorn risotto with lime leaf butter; and îles flottantes with saffron, cardamom custard and pistachio praline. Guests will also listen to a talk from Ravinder and Emma Freud. Tarka x Wild by Tart

Eccleston Yards’ restaurant Wild by Tart has partnered with holiday camp pros Tarka London for a monthly kids’ club. Each second Sunday of the month, parents can drop little ones off at the club where they can enjoy a range of fun developmental games and a mindful cooldown with stretches and breathing exercises so they leave invigorated and relaxed for the rest of the day. Meanwhile, adults can enjoy dishes from the restaurant’s seasonally changing menu. The next session takes place on Sunday 10th September from 1pm to 4pm. Tickets cost £40pp.

Miznon Notting Hill launches a brunch menu this weekend. The cult restaurant by Israeli chef Eyal Shani will now open at 10:30am on Saturdays and Sundays to serve brunch until 3pm. Diners can tuck into new dishes like avocado and egg pita with aioli, hard-boiled eggs, pickles, and tomato; and the zaatar omelette pita with scrambled eggs, sour cream, pickles and tomato salsa. You’ll also find old favourites like the steak and egg pita. Add on brunch cocktails like The Miznon Mary, a take on the classic, and mimosas.

‘Lost Giants’ Guest Chef Series Outcrop

Outcrop, the restaurant, bar and arts space at 180 The Strand, and art-collective Marshmallow Laser Feast will host a series of collaboration dinners with some of London’s top chefs. The ‘Lost Giants’ events will see each chef pay homage to one of the UK’s ancient trees with a menu that explores the relationship between food and the UK’s ecosystems. Confirmed names include John Chantarasak, of AngloThai fame (Sunday 10th September), Chantelle Nicholson (Monday 11th September) and Skye Gyngell (Sunday 17th September).
