Comedian Deborah Frances-White started The Guilty Feminist podcast back in 2015 to talk to her friends about being a better feminist – and confessing the things that made her feel guilty. Eight years later, the podcast is now recorded in front of a live audience around the world. The next series will be recorded at Soho Theatre today until Saturday 7th January. Strange Clay Exhibition at Hayward Gallery
Don’t miss this exhibition at Southbank Centre’s Hayward Gallery which is on display until the end of the week. Strange Clay celebrates the medium’s potential through a collection of large-scale sculptures and smaller objects, ranging from fantastical creatures to uncanny representations of the everyday. Visitors can see works from 23 international artists, including Salvatore Arancio, Leilah Babirye, Jonathan Baldock, Lubna Chowdhary and Emma Hart. Look out for the impressive installation by American ceramic artist Betty Woodman. Tickets cost £15.

On Saturday 14th January, Malaysian kitchen Gopal's Corner is hosting London’s biggest ‘Pongal Feast’ at Market Halls Oxford Street. A celebration to mark Veganuary, Tamil Heritage Month and Thai Pongal (the Tamil harvest festival), guests can expect a session of feasting, live music and Tamil-inspired entertainment. Gopal’s Corner will serve banana leaves with four vegan or vegetarian curries and all the trimmings, including poppadoms, dried chilies, relishes and vadai (a spicy savoury snack). Empire of Light at BFI
On Saturday 7th January at 5.30pm, the BFI is screening a preview of Sam Mendes’s new film, Empire of Light. Set in 1980s Margate, the film tells the story of Hilary (Olivia Colman), the manager of a cinema who has recently suffered a breakdown and is battling personal demons. When a young Black man Stephen (Michael Ward) gets a job at the cinema, despite differences in their ages and backgrounds, the two embark on a romance. It’s not a smooth road in a Thatcherite society rife with racism and plagued by political and social upheaval, but both are determined to have a slice of happiness. Also stars Colin Firth.

Couture Techniques at The Fashion and Textile Museum
The Fashion and Textile Museum in Bermondsey is hosting an all-day workshop on couture fashion techniques on Saturday 7th January from 10.45am. Led by Zandra Rhodes’s dressmaker Jolanta Cerniauskiene, guests will learn how to work with high-end fabrics like chiffon and silk satin on a sewing machine. You’ll also learn a range of techniques to create a French seam, pin hem, machine rolled hem, bias cut bind, button loop, satin stitch and pockets. All you need is basic sewing machine skills. Wassail at The Oarsman, Marlow
The Oarsman in Marlow is hosting a wassailing Twelfth Night celebration on Friday 6th January to mark the end of Christmas. Highlights on the pub’s special menu include fish soup with rouille and croutons, venison faggot with pickled pear, and caramelised apples with vanilla ice-cream.
