London’s Brightest Destination To Visit
Created in partnership with Battersea Power Station
the FESTIVAL
Running until the 5th March, the Light Festival at Battersea Power Station is made up of eight light installations on display both outdoors and inside the iconic Grade II*-listed landmark, plus Electric Boulevard, a new pedestrianised high street. The result of a partnership with Light Art Collection, the outdoor installations are switched on from 8am until 11pm daily, with the installations inside the Power Station switching off at 10pm.
Visitors can discover light installations from global artists such as Atelier Haute Cuisine, with a giant illuminated bath plug to encourage people to consider the importance of clean water, society’s consumption and reducing how much water is ‘going down the drain’. UK-based Studio Vertigo uses a retro Slinky toy to show the city in a playful new way; and Eternal Sundown by Mads Vegas uses 140 LED tubes to create a post-apocalyptic sunset along The Coaling Jetty, with the Power Station as its backdrop. Best of all, the majority of installations use energy-saving LED lights to keep energy use as low as possible.

where to EAT & DRINK
As well as discovering the installations, visitors can enjoy some of the great food huts and trucks joining the festival this year. Look out for offerings from Roti King, Chipsy, Fondue Power, Cheese King, Simply Lebanese, Queen of the Crepes or grab a coffee from Over Under, Grind or The Feel Good Bakery for the best flat white around.
If you’d rather head to a restaurant, there are plenty to choose from. Whether you’re on a date, entertaining the children or going out with friends, top places to book include Where The Pancakes Are, Le Bab, No.29 Power Station West, Megan’s at the Power Station, Wright Brothers, Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen & Bar and Fiume. Vagabond Wines, Battersea Brewery, Birdies and Control Room B are on hand if you fancy a drink or ‘Happy Hour’ cocktail.

what to SEE & DO
Battersea Power Station has plenty of activities on offer for those looking to make an afternoon or evening out of visiting the Light Festival. First up, discover the incredible history of the Power Station at the Power of Place Exhibition; watch the latest blockbusters at The Cinema in the Power Station; get involved in a virtual reality game at DNA VR; or take on a round of crazy golf at Birdies. Most excitingly, Lift 109 is a unique glass elevator experience which transports visitors 109m to the top of the building’s north-west chimney, offering spectacular 360° views of the London skyline. If you’re yet to do this, it’s a must.
What’s more, there’s plenty to come in 2023. London’s hottest new hotel – art’otel – opens on Tuesday 21st February and will be home to Italian restaurant TOZI Grand Cafe, 15th-floor Portuguese restaurant JOIA and a spectacular rooftop pool. Plus, a new LEGO Store and Arcade Food Hall – one of our favourite places to dine in the capital – will be opening later in the year.
