VISIT THIS NEW EXHIBITION: Windrush Day, Brixton Village

Tuesday marked Windrush Day, commemorating 73 years since the SS Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury Docks, carrying over 1,000 Caribbean migrants to the UK. To mark the anniversary, Brixton Village has teamed up with arts organisation The Brixton Project for a series of cultural events taking place today until Monday 28th June. Head down to Briton Village to see The Portrait Parlour, an interactive installation inspired by the work of renowned photographer Harry Jacobs who captured iconic portraits of Caribbean people during the 60s and 70s. Plus, on Saturday 26th June from 11am, Quincy the Comedian and playwright Judy Hepburn will perform a reading of their new book, The Place for Me: Stories About The Windrush Generation, at Windrush Square in Brixton, followed by a Q&A session, suitable for both children and adults. Tickets are free.
