SOLVE A CRIME: The Judge, The Jury And James Patterson

Crime novelist James Patterson is a master of the whodunnit. Now his most famous character, Met Police detective Alex Cross, will be brought to life in The Judge, The Jury and James Patterson at Bethnal Green Town Hall on Wednesday 24th November. The one-off show is an immersive experience that will transport you to a courtroom to decide whether detective Cross is innocent or guilty of a gruesome triple murder – and Patterson himself is set to make a cameo. Tickets cost £15, including a welcome drink and signed copy of Patterson’s 1993 bestseller, Along Came a Spider.

SUPPORT A GOOD CAUSE: Choose Love Pop-Up

Choose Love supports refugees around the world. The charity has just opened a pop-up store on Carnaby Street where shoppers can buy items and services for refugees, which will then be delivered directly to those in need across Europe, the Middle East and the US-Mexico border. Choose from ‘bundles of warmth’, which includes warm clothing and shoes, hot food, and blankets and sleeping bags; ‘saving lives bundles’ made for those who have left their homes and arrived in a new country; and ‘bundles of love’ created for unaccompanied children. If you can’t make it into the store, you can also do your bit by visiting the Choose Love online shop.

TRY NEW FLAVOURS: Taste of London Festive Edition At Tobacco Docks

The Taste of London food festival is back with a festive edition. From today until Sunday 21st November, visitors can feast on a range of Alpine-inspired food and drink at Tobacco Dock in east London. Highlights include British-Afghan fusion barbecue bites from Cue Point, Sri Lankan party food from Jaffna Kitchen, Bar Flounder’s stuffed lobster rolls, and 24-hour marinated jerk chicken from SLMan favourite Juici Jerk. Play a round of crazy golf at the on-site Ballers course, and book onto a masterclass – we suggest the 45-minute ‘Around the Barrel’ wine tasting. If you want to go all out, book a table at the Après Ski Club House hosted by Laurent-Perrier or step inside the Grey Goose Alpine Chalet for vodka martinis. Tickets start from £17.

FEEL FESTIVE: Lightopia, Crystal Palace Park

Lightopia opens tomorrow night at Crystal Palace Park. Visitors can explore the light trail which snakes around the park, including a spectacular display in the palace itself. A fun day out the whole family can enjoy, kids will love the colourful butterfly and phoenix areas, while adults will appreciate the beautiful Christmas trees in the ‘Festive Zone’. Make a beeline for the Dinosaur lights, before stopping for a bite to eat at one of the food stalls – think burgers and skinny fries, cheese fondue, mulled wine and hot chocolate. GET DATE NIGHT RIGHT: Joy Pop-Up By Dixon x Sotheby's

Tom Dixon has partnered up with Sotheby's for a five-day pop-up restaurant which opens its doors today. Inside Sotheby's auction house, the pop-up features Tom Dixon furniture and accessories, plus rare plants and vintage Willy Guhl planters – all of which are available to buy. The restaurant has a breakfast and lunch menu, while Joy chef Stevie Parle will host supper clubs each night. Across the menus, dishes are made with seasonal ingredients include the likes of Galloway beef with pickled elderberries, cured egg yolk and crisp bread; Scottish langoustine roasted with butter and seaweed; risotto bianco with white truffles; and nutmeg custard tart.

FIND A HIDDEN GEM: Bush Theatre Bookstore Pop-Up

On Friday 19th and Saturday 20th November – from noon to 7.30pm – theatre publisher Nick Hern Books will hold its first pop-up at the Bush Theatre. Shoppers will be able to browse a range of play scripts and books starting from just £2, including monologues, Broadway scripts and playwright biographies, as well as rare interview collections and criticism texts. A quarter of proceeds from all books will go to theatrical charity Acting for Others, which provides financial and emotional support to theatre workers in times of need. Stop by the Library Bar for a couple of drinks once you’ve found your new reads.

TAKE THE KIDS: Skate At Somerset House

Somerset House has just opened its ice-skating rink in collaboration with Moët & Chandon. GET YOUR CULTURE FIX: The Valkyrie, London Coliseum

The Valkyrie opens at the London Coliseum tomorrow night. Wagner’s epic will be brought to life by the English National Opera, with music from a 92-piece orchestra conducted by the award-winning Martyn Brabbins. Featuring some of Wagner’s most iconic and majestic music, the Norse-inspired opera tells the story of a turbulent Earth, which has been plunged into conflict by scheming gods in search of power. In the mortal world, a man pursued by unstoppable enemies and a woman in love cause a devastating dispute between a powerful father and his rebellious daughter. Tickets start from £10.

TAKE THE GIRLS: Wun’s Team Room & Bar

Wun’s Team Room & Bar has created a weekend brunch menu inspired by Hong Kong’s ‘Cha Chaan Teng’ – a style of cooking which fuses Chinese and European cuisines. Diners can choose from small sharing plates like scallop prawn toast, Sichuan pepper rostis, Canton scrambled egg fried rice, smoked haddock with glass noodles, devilled mackerel eggs, Kaya buttered toast, and Hong Kong French toast with cheese and butter. MARK WORLD VEGAN MONTH: Neat Burger

Plant-based fast food group Neat Burger (co-created by Lewis Hamilton) is the place to go for great vegan food in the capital. This month, its plant-based cheeseburger – featuring a vegan patty, American cheese, pickles, ketchup and mustard – is available for just £1.99 across its London restaurants.
