READ THIS DEBUT NOVEL: The Marks Left On Her By Di Lebowitz

Di Lebowitz’s debut novel comes out on Monday. The book tells the story of Daughter, the only mixed-race child in her Hong Kongese family with a bipolar mother, absentee father and strict catholic grandmother. Trying to navigate her otherness as ‘girl’, she seeks validation in a world where she’s ignored and mistreated, until a sexual assault sets her on a self-destructive spiral that sees ‘Survivor’, her post-trauma alter ego, battle monsters both real and imagined. Inspired by the #MeToo movement, it’s an important and moving read.
