What To Do This Weekend 05.08.21
WATCH THIS NEW NETFLIX SERIES: Cooking With Paris
Paris Hilton’s new cooking show – yes you read that right – landed on Netflix yesterday. And she can cook… kind of. Paris is never one to follow conventions, as you’ll know if you watched her YouTube documentary last year, and her cooking is no exception. She may not be a trained chef, but she’s not trying to be. With the help of her celebrity friends, including Kim Kardashian, Demi Lovato and Saweetie, she navigates new ingredients, new recipes and fancy kitchen appliances. Inspired by her viral YouTube video (where she makes breakfast with an iron), we’ll get to see what she buys at the supermarket and how she turns it into a delicious spread. We can’t think of a better way to kickstart the weekend.

To celebrate the launch of their new Calm-Essentiel skincare range, Clarins is hosting a free virtual drawing workshop on Wednesday 11th August at 7pm. Led by Jessica Yolanda Kaye, an Australian artist based in Notting Hill, you’ll learn how to create a simple line portrait and discover the therapeutic powers of art. During the workshop, you’ll be shown how to create a series of sketches to help boost your wellbeing – a great way to unwind in the evening. All you need is something to draw with (pens, pencils, crayons or pastels) and some paper. The best part? Attendance to the event includes 20% OFF any Calm-Essentiel product from Clarins – we love the corrective eye gel and restoring treatment oil from the range, both of which are formulated with natural ingredients and are ideal for sensitive skin. READ THIS NEW BOOK: Vaxxers: The Inside Story Of The Oxford AstraZeneca Vaccine By Sarah Gilbert & Catherine Green
In January 2020, Sarah Gilbert, Professor of Vaccinology at Oxford University, read an article about four people in China with a strange pneumonia. Within two weeks, she and her team had designed a vaccine against a pathogen that no one had ever seen before. Less than 12 months later, the vaccination was rolled out across the world to save millions of lives from Covid-19. In this fascinating book, you’ll hear directly from Professor Gilbert and her colleague Dr Catherine Green as they reveal the inside story of making the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine, the cutting-edge science behind it, and the unlikely snacks that got them through each day. You don’t have to be interested in science to find this book truly fascinating; Vaxxers invites you into the lab to find out we’ll be saved from this pandemic, and how we can prepare for the inevitable next one.
