SSAW Collective and Newcomer Wines are collaborating to create an al fresco dining experience for spring. Championing ethical producers and regenerative farms in the UK, the menu will celebrate simple and fresh ingredients, served in the beautiful setting of Newcomer Wines’ garden in Dalston. The residency will include a new set menu each week, with dishes including pickled mussels and coriander on toast; barbequed asparagus with nettle butter sauce; English mozzarella with braised greens and dill; barbecued hogget; and Jersey Royals with wild garlic butter. Ideal for a special occasion meal, diners can also enjoy a selection of organic and natural wines. Running Thursdays to Saturdays until the end of June, tickets cost £50 per head.

TUNE INTO THIS VIRTUAL FESTIVAL: The London Library’s Literature Fest

From Saturday 1st to Monday 3rd May, The London Library will host its literature festival. In an exciting line-up, guest speakers to the 180th anniversary celebration include Salman Rushdie, Tom Stoppard, Polly Samson, Philippe Sands, Monique Roffey, C Pam Zhang and Edmund de Waal. Don’t miss Rebecca West’s a performance of Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own and a discussion about underrepresented voices led by Bidisha and Virago founder Lennie Goodings. With a series of talks and workshops to tune into, there’s something for everyone. Tickets to individual events cost £5 and weekend passes cost £25.

BRING YOUR FRIENDS HERE: Skylight Canalside x KERB

On Saturday 1st May, Skylight opens its new rooftop pop-up in collaboration with the street food masters KERB. Taking over the Quayside area at Tobacco Dock, diners can tuck into a rotating offering of delicious street food, with two new KERB food trucks parking up each month – up first, it’s Fundi Pizza and Tongue 'N Cheek with options for both meat eaters and vegans. Skylight will also be on hand with an extensive drink selection, including pitchers of cocktails, spritzers and champagne. Put your order in, then enjoy the garden games on offer, too. Tables are expected to go quickly, so don’t delay making a reservation.

VISIT THIS EXHIBITION: Stephen Lawrence, Brixton Village

In collaboratiom with south London-based charity Re:Sole and adidas, The Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation has just launched an exhibition and campaign to shine light on the life and legacy of Stephen Lawrence. Never Forget Stephen Lawrence features 29 flags, installed across the markets’ avenues, with a series of photography portraits of famous faces including Isaac Chamberlain, Goldie, Maya Jama, Jermain Defoe, Speech Debelle, Max Cyrus and Hussain Manawer. As part of the campaign, Re:Sole are donating adidas trainers and footwear to NHS staff at King’s College Hospital, alongside working on mentorship schemes to support marginalised young people in the UK.
