Miranda Sings Live: Your Welcome, Netflix

 
Viral video star Miranda Sings and her real-world alter ego Colleen Ballinger share the stage in a special packed with music, comedy and "magichinry." While Colleen reads snippets of her diary and sings through some of the weird comments she receives, the next ‘Virgin Mary' Miranda blesses the audience with her combination of acting, singing, dancing, modelling and magic.

Black Mirror – Series 5, Netflix
 

This sci-fi anthology series explores a twisted, high-tech near-future where humanity's greatest innovations and darkest instincts collide. Back for a fifth series, Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker has described the new stuff as "As dark, and yet lighter, than stories we've done before." Our favourite episodes this time around? ‘Vipers’, ‘Smithereens’ and ‘Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too’, where the cast includes pop star Miley Cyrus and Fleabag actor Andrew Scott.

Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City, Netflix

 
Inspired by the books of Armistead Maupin, Tales of the City begins a new chapter in the beloved story. Mary Ann (Laura Linney) returns to present-day San Francisco and is reunited with her adopted daughter Shawna (Ellen Page) and ex-husband Brian (Paul Gross), 20 years after leaving them behind to pursue her career. Fleeing the midlife crisis that her picture-perfect Connecticut life created, Mary Ann is quickly drawn back into the orbit of Anna Madrigal (Olympia Dukakis), her chosen family and a new generation of queer young residents living at 28 Barbary Lane.

Actor Jon Favreau and award-winning chef Roy Choi reunite after their critically acclaimed film Chef to embark on a new adventure. The two friends experiment with their favourite recipes and techniques, baking, cooking, exploring and collaborating with some of the biggest names in the entertainment and culinary world. From sharing a meal with the Avengers cast in Atlanta to smoking brisket in Texas with world-renowned pitmaster Aaron Franklin, Favreau and Choi embrace their passion for food, but more importantly their love for bringing people together over a delicious meal.

Chernobyl, Now TV

 
On April 26, 1986, the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine, Soviet Union suffered a massive explosion that released radioactive material across Belarus, Russia and Ukraine and as far as Scandinavia and western Europe. Chernobyl dramatises the story of the 1986 accident, one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history, and the sacrifices made to save Europe from the unimaginable disaster. Yes, it’s grim viewing, but trust us – this will be one of the best shows you’ll see this year.

Designated Survivor – Series 3, Now TV

 
ABC cancelled this Kiefer Sutherland-starring gripping political thriller after two seasons, but – thankfully for fans – Netflix has stepped in to resurrect it. At only ten-episodes strong, there’s a lot to pack into this third series, as America’s fate rests in the hands of a low-level official after an attack on Washington decimates the government.

I Am Mother, Netflix

 
I Am Mother is a sci-fi thriller about a teenage girl (Clara Rugaard), who is the first of a new generation of humans to be raised by Mother (Rose Byrne), a robot designed to repopulate the earth after the extinction of humankind. But the pair’s unique relationship is threatened when an injured stranger (Hilary Swank) arrives with news that calls into question everything Daughter has been told about the outside world and her Mother’s intentions.

When an NYC cop (Adam Sandler) finally takes his wife (Jennifer Aniston) on a long-promised European trip, a chance meeting on the flight gets them invited to an intimate family gathering on the super yacht of elderly billionaire Malcolm Quince. But when Quince is murdered, they become the prime suspects in a modern-day whodunit. Murder Mystery reunites Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston along with an ensemble cast, including Luke Evans and Gemma Arterton.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy Martin Jones' (Miles Teller, Whiplash) life is blown apart in one tragic night, and he is forced into a deadly underground of cartel soldiers, yakuza assassins and mysterious vigilantes as his past sins close in on him. Directed by Nicolas Winding Renf (Drive, Only God Forgives, The Neon Demon), this is a visual feast.

Big Little Lies – Series 2, Now TV

 
It’s no surprise Big Little Lies was such a huge success when it aired two years ago. All the ingredients were there: An A-list cast, the fabulous locations, and a ready-made fan club in the form of those who’d read Liane Moriarty’s novel. Now it’s back for a second series, which continues where the novel ended. There might not be a major crime to unravel this time, but fans won’t be left disappointed. The characters are so rich and multi-faceted, it’s a joy to delve back into their lives.

The Hills: New Beginnings is the long-awaited sequel to The Hills. The series will reunite the original cast members, alongside their children, friends, and new faces, and follow their personal and professional lives while living in Los Angeles.
