What To Book Around The UK This Summer

Lost Village, Lincolnshire

Lost Village is an immersive festival set in an abandoned woodland village. Returning for its fifth summer, the boutique weekender invites guests to dance in the grounds of the Abandoned Chapel, feast at the Tribal Banquet, learn new skills on Forger’s Lane and expand their horizons in the Institute of Curious Minds. This month, it’s announced its foodie experiences. The 2022 edition will play host to Santiago Lastra (Kol), Rafael Cagali (Da Terra), Melissa Hemsley, Tim Siadatan (Padella and Trullo) and a Sunday feast from Hawksmoor. There will also be pop-up restaurants from Kricket, Circolo Popolare and Burger & Beyond.

Brighton Beach House, Brighton

After years of hype and rumours, Soho House has finally launched its Brighton location. Perched on the beachfront, Brighton Beach House includes a pool terrace with views of the sea and a pool mosaic rumoured to be designed by local resident David Shrigley; ground-floor events space; a club space with a bar and kitchen; the group’s signature Club Cecconi’s – a members-only restaurant serving northern Italian dishes – and best of all, the Brighton Beach Lofts. These will be a collection of five lofts centred around a modular open-plan kitchen and lounge area, with private access to a sea-facing terrace. A Soho Works (shared workspace) will launch later in the year.

Pythouse Kitchen Garden, Wiltshire

In the Wiltshire countryside, Pythouse Kitchen Garden is a highly acclaimed restaurant set in an 18th-century walled garden. Now, it’s expanded to include a picturesque Glamping Village comprising six bell tents and a shepherd’s hut dotted throughout the gardens. Offering an elevated camping experience, guests will have access to comfortable beds and piping hot showers alongside a large, covered party or family dining area, a well-equipped kitchenette, a kitchen and a cocktail bar. Glamping guests can choose to bring their own provisions for a more casual affair or have produce delivered and pre-prepped to be cooked on the open fire within the Glamping Village. Overnight guests can also choose to enjoy the garden-to-table concept at the restaurant, which overlooks seasonal flowers and vegetables including foxgloves, delphiniums and sweetpeas.

Harrods H Beauty, Bristol

Harrods has opened its fourth standalone beauty store in the UK. H Beauty Bristol offers a diverse selection of beauty products and services from over 86 of the world’s most-loved brands. At a huge 2,350sq m, the space brings together a diverse portfolio of must-have products and services. Billing itself as an experiential playground, it’s the place to head if you’re in the mood to discover some of the industry’s most forward-thinking brands, as well as stock up on your favourite products.

Adventure Cinema, UK-Wide

The UK’s largest touring outdoor cinema has kicked off a summer full of entertainment, running until the end of September. This year sees the group return with its largest season yet, with over 200 outdoor screenings across 70 venues, including locations in London, Cardiff, Bristol, Peterborough, Coventry, Margate, Carmarthen, Portsmouth, Cardiff, Bournemouth and Lincoln. Films being screened across the summer include recent hits West Side Story and Encanto, alongside eternal favourites Mamma Mia!, Grease Sing-A-Long, The Greatest Showman Sing-A-Long, Bridget Jones Diary, Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman and Moulin Rouge.

Kirnan Estate, Scotland

Kirnan Estate is a historic estate stretching across 400 acres in Kilmichael Glassary in western Scotland. It’s home to two beautiful lochs, a picturesque glen and plenty of wildlife, including deer, pine martens, pheasants, and partridges. There’s now two newly renovated stone cottages, and Kirnan Beg, a wooden cabin in the Argyll woodland. Boath House, Scotland

This June, the team behind last year’s must-book restaurant Sessions Arts Club – that’s artist and restaurateur Jonny Gent, architect Russell Potter and chef Florence Knight – will open Boath House. On Scotland’s northern coast, near the rural town of Nairn, Boath House will feature bedrooms, two restaurants, a walled garden and cabins within extensive grounds. A Grade A-listed Georgian mansion has been transformed by Jonny and Russell, while the menus have been created by Florence. Art will be integral to Boath House, with a handpicked selection of multi-disciplinary artists, writers, chefs and musicians invited to take up residence in the house and grounds. If this is anything like Sessions Arts Club, we recommend booking immediately.

Norfolk & Norwich Festival, Norfolk

With its origins going as far back as 1772, Norfolk & Norwich Festival is considered one of the oldest single-city arts festivals in the UK. The wide-ranging ‘Festival 250’ programme for 2022 revisits seminal works premiered at the festival over the years, as well as introducing 18 new commissions. Installations, exhibitions, gigs, cabaret, circus and even giant dominoes will be presented on beaches, in churches, at pop-up venues, chapels, art centres, in car parks and through the streets across the county from King’s Lynn, Great Yarmouth to Diss and Sheringham and throughout Norwich. Head to the Festival Gardens in Norwich for places to eat, drink and watch top performances in the Adnams Spiegeltent.

BA i360 X Nyetimber Sky Dining, Brighton

Nyetimber and BA i360 in Brighton are hosting a Nyetimber Sky Dining experience on 24th June. Taking place from 7pm to 10.30pm, the event will begin with a glass of classic cuvée on the deck area that overlooks Brighton beach and the striking West Pier. Guests will then be able board the BA i360 viewing pod for dinner at sunset, where each course will be paired with a different glass of Nyetimber’s English sparkling wine. We can’t imagine a nicer way to spend a Friday night by the coast.

The Mess, Wiltshire

This gallery and arts centre in Wiltshire’s Nadder Valley is the largest thatched building in the country. This month, it’s launched The Mess, a standalone restaurant and deli. With a female-led kitchen run by Ana Ortiz (previously of Pythouse Kitchen Garden and The Newt), who is originally from the Galapagos Islands and brings a South American flavour to the menu, the restaurant is housed in the former dairy building and next to the monastic buildings once connected to the tithe barn. Inside will be 25-cover restaurant with a grab-and-go deli area filled with provisions, cakes and pastries made by pastry chef Lydia Gibson (previously of The Newt). In the south-facing courtyard is a 60-cover tented area which will play host to live music throughout the summer.
