With one in seven Londoners now celebrating Thanksgiving, it’s time to join expats and our friends over the pond in celebrating America’s biggest holiday. Taking place on Thursday 22nd November, some of the capital’s best all-American restaurants are getting in on the action, serving up a traditional US-inspired feast. Pretend you’re in the States with these 10 top-notch celebrations…

Ace Hotel London

For the fourth edition of its ‘Breaking Bread’ events, Ace Hotel London will be holding an immersive evening in conjunction with meaningful experiences experts The POP, celebrating the multicultural city that is London. Taking place on the seventh-floor rooftop, guests will be welcomed with a pumpkin martini garnished with a burnt marshmallow. Alongside guest speakers unveiled on the evening, Ace Hotel’s Executive Chef Matthew Marshall has created a menu that celebrates the American national holiday as well as the food and drink synonymous with the third Thursday in November. Dishes will include cornbread with hemp oil and amaranth dip; corn on the cob on edible soil; and roast turkey with American black rice. To finish, guests will be treated to the ultimate Thanksgiving treat: pumpkin and pecan pie.

Christopher’s

Established in 1991, London’s original American restaurant has created another of its award-winning Thanksgiving feasts. The menu has been devised by head chef Francis Agyepong, who has been serving up his Thanksgiving dinners at Christopher’s for over 25 years. Guests will start with seared Orkney scallops, blue corn cream, fennel crisps and hazelnut praline; or Maryland crab cakes; before moving on to slow-cooked ballotine of organic turkey with cornbread, chestnut-cherry stuffing, cranberry relish, buttered beans and creamed potatoes. Dessert includes baked peanut butter and graham cracker cheesecake accompanied with an indulgent salted caramel ice cream sandwich – not to be missed. The Martini Bar is taking part in the action too, serving a pumpkin pie martini and non-alcoholic ‘Mapletini’.

The Jones Family Project

Both The Jones Family Project in Shoreditch and the newer Jones Family Kitchen in Eccleston Yards will celebrate Thanksgiving family style. Known for their great selection of steaks and cuts of meat (all sourced from The Ginger Pig and finished on a josper grill), Thanksgiving is an opportunity for the team to have a little fun. This year, the Jones family will be serving a three-course, paired dinner from 22nd through 24th November. The kitchen has looked to iconic US musicians and classic US harvest fruits to inspire their paired drinks, and there’ll be a 'pie off' for dessert: with Anna’s pumpkin pie vs Lizzy's pecan pie.
