1. The pair paid £3m for the pub

When the news broke, the Daily Mail reported that Beckham and Ritchie had paired up and bought the historic boozer for £3m. The Walmer Castle is located near Beckham’s family home in Holland Park, and features a striking tiled front and Georgian exterior. A Ledbury Road fixture that dates back to 1845, the ‘hip yet wholesome’ pub is known for its sausage and mash and Sunday roasts – we’re intrigued to see what the duo does with the place.

2. It’s getting a Soho House-style makeover

A source close to Beckham has told the Mail on Sunday that he “can’t wait to get stuck into making it just as he wants it”. We also hear the former England captain is plotting a “Soho House-style makeover” – we’re imagining plush banquettes, dark painted walls and stylish fixtures, as per Soho House’s new launch on 76 Dean Street. We’re sure fashion designer Victoria Beckham will be on hand to offer her expertise.

3. Rita Ora was its first high-profile guest

Since the takeover was announced, singer Rita Ora has been spotted enjoying a cigarette, pub lunch and pint with friends outside. Given its location – and forthcoming makeover – we’re expecting a celeb-filled launch party and numerous famous faces to make it their local once the doors open properly.

4. Guy Ritchie will probably sell his own beer there

Did you know that Guy Ritchie has his own microbrewery? It’s called the Gritchie Brewing Company and operates from his farm in Wiltshire. We’d be surprised if his beers aren’t on tap when the site reopens – make ours an English Lore.
