The Best Hotels For One-Night Weekend Stays

The Pheasant Inn, Berkshire

Just outside Hungerford, The Pheasant Inn is full of character and charm. A great option if you want to explore the many country walks in the local area, the inn has 14 bedrooms to choose from, including three new options created by interior designer Isabella Worsley. There’s also a new restaurant with a seasonal menu focusing on the best of British produce – think Cornish crab salad with toasted sourdough; or wild garlic gnocchi with sautéed mushrooms, charred broccoli and pesto. Pull up a leather bar stool to enjoy local beer or settle into the hidden snug with a glass of wine.

Rooms from £115 per night.

No.15 By GuestHouse, Bath

Bath has no shortage of excellent hotels and B&Bs, but No.15 by GuestHouse is one of our favourites. Part of the Guest House collection, this listed Georgian building is within walking distance of some of Bath’s best sites. For a special stay, book one of The Pulteney Rooms designed by Martin Hulbert (Chewton Glen, The Grove and Coworth Park) and book a treatment at the hotel’s subterranean spa before enjoying champagne in the Retreat. The food here is something to get excited about – guests can take afternoon tea in the sitting room and enjoy hearty British dishes at the restaurant, where Sunday lunch is particularly good.
