Kicking off this week is a new BBC three-parter, Lost Boys And Fairies. The musical drama documents the moving story of Gabriel and his partner Andy, who are trying to adopt a child. But to be a good parent, Gabriel has to embark on a journey of self-discovery and attempt to repair his relationship with his own father before he can parent seven-year old Jake.

Queenie, Channel 4
Based on Candice Carty-Williams’s bestselling novel of the same name, this new Channel 4 drama documents a 20-something Jamaican British journalist navigating a break-up, dating again and her place within society. Dionne Brown stars as the sharp, funny and relatable lead, with comedy back-up from Sally Phillips, Joseph Marcell ( The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air) and Laura Whitmore.

Marlon Wayans: Good Grief, Amazon
Comic Marlon Wayans has an intimate knowledge of all sides of grief, including the funny side. After losing 58 people in his life in the space of three years, culminating in the death of both his parents, his new comedy special is a kind of therapy. Known for his slapstick, puerile comedy (Little Man, White Chicks, Scary Movie), this stand-up show is vulnerable, touching and real – and shows a new depth to Marlon’s stage persona.

True crime fans, this one’s for you. In this stranger-than-fiction story, a prolific bank robber embarks on a crime spree throughout the city of Seattle in the 1990s – with the help of a series of masks and facial prosthetics. From interviews with journalists, detectives and accomplices, this Netflix documentary documents the timeline of the case, as law enforcement scrambles to apprehend the elusive man responsible.

Sweet Tooth, Netflix
Family favourite, Sweet Tooth, is back for a third and final season. Developed by Jim Mickle (In The Shadow Of The Moon, Cold In July) and produced by Robert Downey Jnr, Sweet Tooth is set in a post-apocalyptic world where a virus has killed the majority of the human population, coinciding with the emergence of hybrid babies that are born with animal characteristics. Christian Convery plays Gus, a ten-year-old part-boy part-deer, who must traverse the Alaskan wilderness and save the world from impending doom.

The Watched
In one of the most anticipated horror films of the year, Dakota Fanning stars as Mina, a young artist who gets stranded in an uncharted forest in western Ireland. After finding shelter, she becomes trapped in a concrete bunker alongside three strangers that are watched by mysterious creatures each night. It’s claustrophobic and unsettling – the gothic genre at its best.

Becoming Karl Lagerfeld, Disney Plus
This new limited series drama follows the ascendancy of German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld in the 1970s, from unknown ready-to-wear designer to prominent figure in the haute couture world. It documents his well-known rivalry with Yves Saint Laurent’s partner Pierre Berge, as well as his own love affair with Jacques de Bascher.

Wonder, Netflix
Landing on Netflix this week is the 2017 coming-of-age film, Wonder. Starring Owen Wilson, Julia Roberts and Jacob Tremblay, it tells the story of ten-year old August ‘Auggie’ Pullman who lives in Brooklyn with his mother, father, older sister and their dog. Born with a rare medical facial deformity, he has undergone extensive surgeries to see, speak, smell and hear. As a result, he goes through life wearing an astronaut helmet. After being home-schooled his entire life, a decision is made to enrol him in a middle school with other children – and this film shows the effect it has on Auggie and the whole family.

Soccer Aid, ITV1
Taking place at Stamford Bridge, Soccer Aid is back for another UNICEF fundraiser. Ex-lioness Jill Scott is captaining the English squad with Usain Bolt leading the World XI team. Frank Lampard, Harry Redknapp and Robbie Williams are co-managing the English team, with I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here’s Sam Thompson, Strictly’s Bobby Brazier, as well as cricketer Stuart Broad, Sir Mo Farah, podcaster Steven Barrlett and Peaky Blinders’ Joe Cole in position. On the opposing team is a similar line-up of TV stars and sporting legends, including Tommy Fury, Lee Mack, Roman Kemp and Roberto Carlos.
