BEST FOR SETTING THE SCENE: DS & Durga

Perfume house DS & Durga has created a Spotify playlist for every one of its scents, each tailored to the time and place that inspired the fragrance. Our current favourite is ‘Big Sur After Rain’, which takes inspiration from California (expect three hours of the likes of James Brown and The Jesus And Mary Chain) and ‘Italian Citrus’, which will transport you to Tuscany.

BEST FOR CHILLING ON A SUNDAY NIGHT: Athena Calderone X Anthropologie

Athena Calderone is one of the SL team’s favourite food and interiors accounts to follow on Instagram, and ‘Tasting Notes’ – a recent playlist she pulled together for Anthropologie – has been on rotation for months. Highlights include tracks by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, David Bowie, Erykah Badu and Massive Attack.

BEST FOR PLAYING AT PARTIES: Maison Kitsuné

Maison Kitsuné’s Spotify account harks back to the French fashion brand’s original guise as a record label. Its most recent mixes are Pride and coffee break themed, but its most popular mix by far is its ‘New, Hot & Fresh’ playlist, which has 42,000 subscribers and is updated every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

From playlists curated by musicians – such as Sunflower Bean’s Julia Cumming – to Halloween-inspired mixtapes and cinematic collections, A-list model and DJ Alexa Chung has you covered with this selection of excellent playlists.

A long-running project, almost every month journalist, author and podcaster Dolly Alderton creates a mix tape. And considering she has over 15,000 followers on Spotify, it’s fair to say they’re a hit. Her latest kicks things off with a bit of Mariah Carey and Kermit The Frog (yes, really).

Brighton’s best clothes shop Our Daily Edit has created a series of playlists compiled by friends of the store. The first was put together by TonyoftheSea, the man behind Wonder Yeahs – Brighton's longest running 90's club night. Our current favourite is the soundtrack to the team’s recent buying trip to Paris, featuring everyone from Burna Boy to Bon Iver.

London institution Ronnie Scott’s has released plenty of physical compilations over the years, but its Spotify account is the place to look for the latest bands and songs inspiring the team. Its current mix features three hours of Tony Bennett, Goldie and the James Taylor Quartet.

As you’d expect, fashion brand The Row has some of the coolest collections of songs on Spotify, ranging from The Cure to PJ Harvey and Grace Jones.
