Whether you’re looking for cool new music to accompany your commute or a chilled soundtrack for supper in the garden, here are ten of our favourite playlists to download this week.

BEST FOR JOYFUL BEATS: Our Daily Edit

Last summer, Brighton’s best clothes shop Our Daily Edit launched a series of playlists created by friends of the store. The first was put together by long-time friend and the man behind Wonder Yeahs – Brighton's longest running 90's club night – TonyoftheSea. Expect an eclectic range of tastes, beloved classics and in-store favourites.

A long-running project, each month journalist, author and podcaster Dolly Alderton creates a mix tape. And considering she has over 12,000 followers on Spotify, it’s fair to say they’re a hit. Her latest kicks things off with a bit of Al Green and Billie Eilish.

BEST FOR SETTING THE SCENE: DS & Durga

Perfume house DS & Durga has created a Spotify playlist for every one of its scents, each tailored to the time and place that inspired the fragrance. Our current favourite is ‘Big Sur After Rain’, which takes inspiration from California (expect three hours of the likes of James Brown and The Jesus And Mary Chain) and ‘Italian Citrus’, which will transport you to Tuscany.

BEST FOR VARIETY: The Row

As you’d expect, fashion brand The Row has some of the coolest collections of songs on Spotify, ranging from The Cure to PJ Harvey and Grace Jones. As well as monthly playlists, you’ll find soundtracks direct from the catwalk.

BEST FOR HITS: Este Haim

The Haim sisters are some of the coolest girls in music: case in point, their matching outfits from The Row at this month’s Brit Awards, which arguably stole the show. Bassist Este’s regular mixes on the group’s Spotify channel is one of their most popular and feature a mix of everyone from Kate Bush and Perfume Genius to Kendrick Lamar and Cyndi Lauper.

This account is a collection of music inspired by Alexander McQueen shows. Currently just three playlists strong, our favourite is the latest, which was curated by composer Isobel Waller-Bridge (yes, Phoebe’s sister) and is all about positivity.

The best thing about Marc Jacobs’ Spotify account is the collection of playlists created by other creatives for the brand – think Rufus Wainwright, Bette Midler and Sofia Coppola, who shared her quarantine spring cleaning and self-care playlist with Marc last year.
