The Supplement Everyone’s Talking About

With so many superfoods being hailed as the latest ‘it’ ingredient for supplements, it can be tricky to sort the best from the rest. But one to keep on your radar is gac fruit – with an increasing amount of studies suggesting it has the potential to boost cardiovascular and gut health as well as overall wellbeing, here’s what you need to know...

What is it?

Naturally packed with powerful antioxidants, gac fruit has been cherished for more than 1,000 years by generations of people in south-east Asia for its health-boosting properties. When ripe, the gac fruit is bright orange or red, with a thick spiky rind and inside, around 20 bright red seed pods – it’s the lining around the seed pods that contains the sought-after gac oil, prized for its nutrient content.

What does it do?

Gac fruit is reported to contain the highest concentrations of lycopene and beta-carotene of any known fruit or vegetable, alongside a bevy of other vitamins. It boasts up to 70 more times more lycopene than tomatoes; up to ten times more beta-carotene than carrots; and up to 40 times more vitamin C than oranges – these antioxidants and vitamins are all associated with boosting the immune system, healthy glowing skin, stronger hair and nails, a healthier heart and longer-lasting eye sight.

Studies have also suggested lycopene can improve prostate health, making it ideal for maintaining men’s health, while separate research has found it can significantly improve conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

Who’s it for?

If you’ve typically been sceptical about superfoods then listen up – free from fads and backed by clinical studies, this health hero could be the boost your diet needs. Whether you struggle to get your five-a-day or are on the hunt for a wellbeing pick-me-up, gac fruit could be your new go-to.

Where to find it?

It’s unlikely you’ll find fresh gac fruit out of south-east Asia as it’s only harvested two months of the year and exportation of the fresh fruit is limited. However, the power of gac fruit has recently been harnessed by British start-up Only Gac Fruit, whose game-changing supplement is one to check out.

Unlike other superfoods on the health shelves, Only Gac Fruit isn’t ridiculously priced, and for an all-rounder supplement that’s suitable for all the family, it gets our vote. We’ve been taking it for three weeks and have already noticed our bottle blonde hair is noticeably shinier and our nails stronger.
