British Military Fitness

There’s no messing around with British Military Fitness – a hardcore, stripped-back, outdoor bootcamp run by ex-army instructors. Expect plenty of squats, lunges, burpees and shouting, but if you’re serious about toning up, then it’s tough love that works.

KXU Run Club

Whether you’re looking to increase your cardio, or make your next run more social, be sure to sign up to the weekly KXU Run Club. Led by biomechanics coach Anthony Fletcher, prepare to turbo-boost your speed and endurance, whether you’re a native on the track, treadmill or road. The sessions will focus on running form, core strength and sprinting as well as ways to stay injury-free and mentally strong.

Park Run

For keen runners looking to smash a PB or break a treadmill rut, sign up to Park Run to take part in weekly 5km runs in your local park. Held every Saturday morning in hundreds of green spaces across the country, Park Run’s sessions are free and a fun way of meeting like-minded individuals. Remember pre-registration is essential if you want your run to be timed.

Boxit Bootcamp

Kobox fans should sign up to Boxit’s outdoor bootcamp, which takes place on Clapham Common three times per week. Whether you’re looking to get fit quick, or hone your boxing technique, expect plenty of pad work and bodyweight cardio. The hour-long class is tough but guarantees results.

Yogarise Peckham

Yogarise is a yoga studio based in Peckham’s iconic Bussey Building, set up by two locals keen to bring the yoga love to their patch of London. During the summer (from 30th June to 7th July, with further potential dates) they take their classes al fresco, occupying Rooftop Film Club’s upstairs space. The panoramic views of London’s cityscape are some of the best in town – the perfect accompaniment to your downward dog.

Swift Fitness

Offering classes across nine spots in London as well as in Hampshire, Birmingham, Devon and Watford, Swift’s legendary classes come highly recommended. Unlike other bootcamps, Swift mixes up their workouts weekly so boredom isn’t an option – the only constant is your calorie burn, with the Swift experts claiming you’ll burn approximately 600 calories in each and every session.

Zip Fit Club

Designed for those who want a quick blast of exercise on their lunch break, Zip Fit Club runs HIIT-style classes in Hyde Park and Russell Square that are just 30 minutes long. Early morning sessions (starting from 7:30am) and post-work classes are also on offer. The Hyde Park location is our favourite – held a stone’s throw from Hyde Park Corner, there’s no excuse not to get your workout fix this summer.

Fat Buddha Yoga

Sweaty yoga studios stifling your zen? Head outdoors this summer and experience one of Fat Buddha Yoga’s cult classes. Try the 7:30am Rise & Shine class on the Coq d’Argent rooftop or finish your weekend on a high at The Hoxton Hotel (the 1pm Sunday class is suitable for yoga virgins and pros alike).
