The Best Massage Candles For Valentine’s Day

How they work…
Unlike your average candle, massage candles are specifically formulated to melt at lower temperatures, meaning they burn in a different way. As the hot wax melts, it becomes an oil, which can be poured onto the skin. As Molly Murphy, co-founder of Kiki De Montparnasse explains, “Massage candles make it easy for even the novice to give an unforgettable massage. Light your candle to illuminate the room with light and scent, and then watch as the candle melts into a rich oil. Drizzle the oil on your partner and work it into the skin. Warm oil, paired with a personal touch, creates a heightened sensory experience. In fact, studies have shown that the power of touch can calm nerves, relieve stress and release oxytocin, the love hormone.”
Nor do you need to be in a relationship to reap the benefits of a massage candle, says Holly. “If you are solo, light your candle before running a bath to fill the room with scent. You can then drizzle a few drops of the oil into your bath, and when you get out, use the oil on your body to soften and smooth.”
