19 Summer Beauty Tips From Jo Malone MBE

My summer skincare routine is simple, I only ever use Eve Lom Gel Balm Cleanser… I’m not a fan of serums, but I do like Votary facial oils alongside my moisturiser.
 
I only ever use Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser SPF20 for foundation… As it’s super lightweight. I switch between shades throughout the year, Nude in winter and Fawn in summer.
 
My go-to blush is Beauty Pie Smart Powder Blush in Daydreamer… I sometimes use the Beauty Pie Pro-Glow Highlighter Cosmetic Shine on my cheekbones. Plus their mascaras are my favourites.
 
I use more cream formulas in the summer, like the Trinny London stacks… They’re easy to use and brilliant to travel with as they fit into any bag.
 
When it comes to summer bodycare, I love Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse… It’s perfect for added shimmer and glow. I also treat my body to a sea salt and olive oil scrub to prep my skin for the sun.
 
I tend not to wear much make-up when I’m on holiday… but I always tint and thread my eyebrows before going away.
 
You should always keep your lips moist and hydrated… The Chanel Rouge Coco Glosses are really moisturising. My favourite colours are 726 Icing and 728 Rose Purple.
 
Before traveling use a rich moisturiser, then something lighter on the day you fly… When you arrive at your destination, use a cooling gel mask, before going back to your rich moisturiser a couple of days later.
 
Optrex Warming Eye Masks are perfect for the plane… To help me relax, I place one over my closed eyes and wear it for ten to 20 minutes, just after take-off.
 
To refresh my skin when it’s hot, I pop my face cream in the fridge… I also fill a Muji clear pump bottle with Evian water and a few drops of oil and spritz my face.
 
SPF-wise, I’ve only ever used Banana Boat Sport Performance SPF30 and SPF50… On holiday, I apply it three times a day, avoid the midday sun, and have never burnt my skin.
 
Benadryl Gel is perfect for sunburn… Or you can make a cucumber juice yogurt mix, which helps cool skin down.
 
I sometimes add pure argan oil to my moisturiser in summer… You can also add it to face masks and put them in your hair.
 
After swimming, I massage pure argan oil into my hair and scalp… Then pop a Ziploc bag over my hair and leave for 20 minutes. I use Rahua Classic Shampoo to wash it out, and my Click N Curl brush set to blow-dry my hair afterwards.
 
I take my Josh Wood Tinted Dry Shampoo in Lighter Blonde with me on every trip... It instantly covers up my roots and gives my hair volume. I usually colour my hair when I get back from my holiday, not before.
 
In summer, I wear my Pomelo fragrance in the daytime and Pink Vetiver in the evening… A good trick is to place your Jo Loves Fragrance Paintbrush in an ice bucket when you’re by the pool so you can apply it to freshen up for lunch.

My favourite summer nail polishes are CND Shellac Romantique and Essie Spin the Bottle… I also use Sally Hansen Hard As Nails, to protect my nails and stop them breaking on holiday.

In my beach bag you'll always find Opticrom eye drops... Along with anti-viral hand foam and avocado oil or apricot kernel oil to pop into my moisturiser or use on my hair and nails.
 
The three products I always take on holiday are YSL Touche Éclat, MAC Soar Lip Pencil… And Flexitol Heel Balm which I rub on the soles of my feet, before putting my socks on.
