Interiors: Get The Look

Emma Shone-Sanders was tasked with creating a calm, restful living space that worked hard as a place to relax as well as entertain. Here, the interior designer explains how she created this timeless interior, which proves neutrals can be warm and interesting.

The Brief

The brief was to create a relaxing and calming living space for our clients, where they could unwind after a hectic day. We also needed to incorporate a space to entertain and enjoy meals together with family and friends.

Colour Palette

The soothing colour scheme of warm neutrals with subtle green undertones makes the space feel welcoming and tranquil, and instantly creates a calming effect. Layering texture with a mixture of woods, linens, boucle, rattan, velvets and brass accents add tactility and warmth to the space, whilst the floor-to-ceiling sheer linen curtains let the light pass through and provide softness and texture.

The brief was to create a RELAXING and CALMING living space for our clients, where they could unwind after a hectic day.

Furniture, Lighting & Accessories

We added lots of layered dimmable lighting, such as wall lights and floor lamps, to create a soft ambient light level and atmosphere. The Gubi Pacha lounge chair, upholstered in Pierre Frey boucle, is a beautiful accent piece that creates a relaxed moment in the space between the two rooms; the chaise provides a comfortable space to lay and read; and the combination of different furniture styles creates balance and visual interest. Contemporary abstract artwork by Lisa Giles – with varying shades of green – pop within the neutral palette and create a unified look.
