HAVE AFTERNOON TEA

Nomad London

Set in Covent Garden, within the historic former Bow Street Magistrates' Court, NoMad Hotel is an SL favourite. It recently launched its first afternoon tea menu. Expect classic dishes done with style – imagine egg salad with black truffle and chives, smoked salmon on an ‘everything bagel’, plus a nod to NoMad’s New York heritage in the form of a pastrami, daikon and mustard sandwich. There are also six new tea cocktails – we’ve got our eye on the yuzu-based ‘Arnold Palmer’ with iced tea and lemonade. From £55pp, including tea.

BOOK AHEAD:

London Tide

With a story based on Charles Dickens’ Our Mutual Friend, this thriller is centred around the city and the river that runs through it. The minds behind the production are impressive: it is directed by Iran Rickson (Translations), adapted by Ben Power (The Lehman Trilogy) and accompanied by original music from the legendary PJ Harvey. The cast is loaded with up-and-comers like Bella Maclean (Sex Education) alongside more established stage and screen actors like Scott Karim (Dracula, Othello). Tickets start from £20.

Malorie Blackman: The Power of Stories

It’s been said ‘the pen is mightier than the sword’ – and the British Library’s new exhibition aims to affirm this. Visitors will be taken on a journey through the career of one of the UK’s most influential YA authors, Malorie Blackman. From the original synopses of her landmark series Noughts & Crosses to the literary inspirations who paved the way for her, guests can explore how she defied expectations to become one of the most prominent YA writers of this generation, and how books can shine a light on different ways of seeing the world. A great way to keep the kids occupied during February half-term, entry is free.

HAVE A SELF-CARE SUNDAY:

The Berkeley

Designed for mother-and-daughter getaways, romantic escapes and the ultimate catch-up with friends, The Berkeley’s new Self-Care Sundays package is a wellness-focused overnighter with luxury in mind. The experience begins with a transformative facial by 111SKIN in the hotel spa. Back in your room or suite, a self-care minibar will be filled with 111SKIN-powered face and eye masks, along with green juice and (for balance) champagne. The next morning, we suggest starting the week right with a daybreak swim in the rooftop pool before heading back to your room for breakfast pastries courtesy of Cédric Grolet’s in-house patisserie. The experience also includes personalised, monogrammed Frette robes (yours to keep), plus a chauffeur-driven ride in the hotel’s new electric BMW, so you’ll arrive at the office refreshed and relaxed.
