Amie Pop-Up Bar at Rixo
Wine brand Amie has opened a pop-up bar at the Rixo flagship on the King’s Road. Browse Rixo’s current collection of womenswear, then look at the vintage, rental, and pre-loved collections. Shoppers can stop at the glamorous central bar for a glass of Amie’s organic rosé, or a beer or non-alcoholic drink. Next week, cocktail brand Black Lines will take over the space with a permanent bar serving negronis, spicy margaritas, palomas and other cocktails.

WATCH A PERFORMANCE:
Rhythm in Resilience Festival at Royal Opera House
October is Black History Month. To mark the occasion, the Royal Opera House has created a programme of events to showcase Black excellence in the arts. This weekend, you can watch performances by some of the most talented Black artists in the world on the ROH’s online streaming platform, including the 2023 production of La Traviata, starring opera singer Pretty Yende. Other highlights include an evening with the Royal Ballet’s Joseph Toonga and dancer Kenneth Tharp, with performances and a discussion to spotlight diversity in dance (18th Oct); and family events every Sunday throughout the month which includes special performances and dance workshops for kids.

Bun House is one of our favourite spots in Chinatown, so we were pleased to hear the Cantonese restaurant has created a menu inspired by Hong Kong street food. Skip the queues and get there early to tuck into dishes like stuffed wontons in steaming bowls of hot and sour broth, fried milk ribs, hoisin sesame cheung fun, and short ribs with satay gravy rice. Look out too for signature dishes like cucumber in chili vinaigrette and steamed pork belly bums. Finish with kaya French toast with clotted jasmine cream, or a classic custard-filled bun.

HEAD OUT TONIGHT:
Drag Race Viewing Party at The Standard
Drag Race UK S5 started last week, with a new cast of queens entering the workroom and taking to the stage for judges RuPaul, Michelle Visage and Alan Carr. The Standard hotel is hosting viewing parties every Thursday night until the end of November, when guests can watch the action unfold on the big screen. Northern Irish drag superstar and beloved queen from season four Jonbers will host the party at Double Standard each week, with hilarious commentary and post-episode analysis. Book a table and order snacks, burgers and slushies before the action starts.

Homeware designer and artist Gergei Erdei has taken over the terrace and drawing room at The Maine and transformed into ‘The Orangerie’ for the next month. Meet the girls there and enjoy a set menu (£80pp) which includes a glass of champagne on arrival and starters like charred artichoke hearts, beef carpaccio, and sea bass ceviche, and mains of truffle rigatoni, parmesan veal chops, or seabass fillets. Finish the meal with Basque cheesecake or chocolate mousse.

Decorative Fair
The Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair is hosting its autumn edition this week at Evolution London in Battersea Park. This year’s theme is rococo design, which originated in 18th century France and has influenced European makers and designers to the present day. There will be a selection of furniture, artwork and lighting from over 130 specialist dealers with shoppers able to browse modernist 20th century design pieces, accessories from the 1700s to the 1970s, and a range of contemporary paintings, prints, pictures and sculptures. BFI London Film Festival
The BFI London Film Festival kicks off this weekend, with over 50 free screenings for adults and kids, workshops, talks, live music events, and augmented reality experiences. Highlights from this year’s programme include a preview screening of Marvel Studios’ Loki Season 2 (a day before the TV release); talks from filmmaking talent who have worked on films like Aquaman and The Bourne Ultimatum; and an exhibition on Little White Lies at Gallery @OXO Tower, celebrating two decades and 100 issues of the film magazine and its iconic covers. There’s plenty to keep kids entertained, including the premiere of Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget and a model-making workshop run by one of Aardman’s top model-makers; a talk with children’s writer Michael Morpurgo; and various storytelling sessions.

The Hari hotel has appointed a new chef at Il Pampero. For a special date night, book a table at the glamorous restaurant with its art-deco geometric tiles, leather booths and central bar to try dishes by Angelo Albera alongside Italian wines. The Seahorse x Trullo
On Sunday 8th October, Mitch Tonks’ Dartmouth restaurant The Seahorse will take over the kitchen at Trullo in Highbury for a special lunch. The day will start with aperitivo at noon, followed by a long, lazy lunch with optional wine pairings. Guest will begin with nibbles before tucking into cured mackerel with pickled vegetables, grapes and pink peppercorns; seafood orzo made with fish from Brixham market; slow-cooked veal shin with potatoes and braised greens; and Armagnac panna cotta with brandy prunes. Tickets cost £80pp, with four glasses of paired wine for an additional £35.

Drumsheds
Drumsheds is the new 15,000-capacity venue in Tottenham from Broadwick Live, the team behind Printworks, the Beams and Field Day. On Saturday 7th October, it will open its doors for the first time with an event from disco collective Discotheque. The day party starts at 12pm and continues until 10.30pm, with dancers, DJs and disco queens performing across its two huge rooms. The line-up includes legends Jocelyn Brown and Evelyn King, as well as the La Discotheque Orchestra, Kenny Dope, Gilles Peterson, Anish Kumar and Hercules & Love Affair. Tickets start from £27.50.
