MONDAY

The Regime, Sky

Starring Kate Winslet, Matthias Schoenaerts, Martha Plimpton and Hugh Grant, The Regime is a sharply observed political satire written by Will Tracy. Winslet is Elena Vernham, a dictator reigning precariously over a fictional Central European nation, with the series offering a glimpse within the walls of a deteriorating authoritarian regime. Having secluded herself within her palace for an extended period, Chancellor Vernham becomes increasingly paranoid and unstable. She finds an unlikely confidant in Herbert Zubak, a volatile soldier, but as Zubak's influence over the chancellor grows, her attempts to consolidate her power lead to the fracturing of both the palace and the nation.
