The Indian-born British-American novelist Salman Rushdie was about to give a speech about protecting the freedom of writers when he was attacked on stage. Stabbed multiple times, it cost him an eye, and nearly his life and ability to write. In BBC 2’s Through A Glass Darkly, we hear Rushdie’s retelling of the event and the author has an AI imagined conversation with his attacker, Hadi Matar, who is currently in custody for the attempted murder.

The darkly comic Inside No.9 returns tonight for its ninth and final season. Show masterminds Reece Sheersmith and Mark Pemberton are joined by a bevy of guest stars including; Mark Bonnar (Line Of Duty), Siobhan Finnerman (Happy Valley), Susan Wokoma (Chewing Gum) and Charlie Cooper (This Country). Late-night commuters find themselves stranded in a tunnel as their train malfunctions. As they patiently await the replacement service, tensions rise when a nurse has her purse stolen.

Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is set to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. Hoard
Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) stars in this critically acclaimed film. Directed by an exciting new voice in British cinema, Luna Carmoon, and already receiving rave reviews at indie film festivals, Hoard is released in cinemas this weekend. Set in London in 1984, the movie follows the story of a seven-year-old girl named Maria (Lily Beau-Leach) and her mother, who live in a world built on sorting through bins and collecting shiny rubbish. After a dramatic event tears their world apart, the film jumps ten years into the future, when an older Maria (Saura Lightfoot Leon) is living with a foster mother.

‘Space Babies’ is the first episode in the show’s 14th season. It premieres on BBC One and iPlayer this Saturday.
