My perfect day would be spent in east London. I’d start off with a double class at BLOK studio – boxing followed by strength training – and then treat myself to a shake made with frozen blueberries, almond milk, vanilla protein and pumpkin seeds. Then, I’d go to Columbia Road flower market to pick a bouquet of something that’s in season. For the self-care portion of my day, it’s over to Arch Shoreditch in Boxpark to have my eyebrows laminated and shaped. They have been doing my brows for about eight years – there’s no one else I let near them. If it’s Sunday, it wouldn’t be complete without a roast dinner. The best in east London is Jones & Sons in Dalston. I have lamb with all the trimmings and a side of cauliflower cheese, as well as sticky toffee pudding for dessert. I like to walk off lunch along the canal up to Victoria Park. Lastly, I finish up at Shoreditch House to chill by the pool.”

DOVER YARD 1 HOTELS; GRANGER & CO CHELSEA; RIXO; BATTERSEA POWER STATION; NOVIKOV

“My perfect day in London would start with sunrise yoga at art’otel in Battersea Power Station – it’s at the pool on the roof, with amazing views over the whole of development. It’s a gentle flow class and includes a coffee and pastry afterwards. After browsing the shops (the Zara here has particularly nice changing rooms), I’d go for a facial with Ada Ooi in Marylebone. Ada uses a combination of facial massage and acupuncture in her Pinpoint Wellness Treatment, so as well as helping blood flow and energy, you’ll leave looking plumped and refreshed. After that I’d make my way over to Chelsea for lunch at Granger & Co – I love the hidden sunken garden. Then I’d wander around Pavilion Road and down the King’s Road for some shopping – you can’t beat the Rixo store for a first-class shopping experience. After that, it would be dinner at the Italian section of Novikov – I love the burrata here, it’s as close to eating it in Italy as I have come in London – with a nightcap opposite at Dover Yard in 1 Hotel Mayfair.”

@HONEY&CO; NOBLE ROT; LA FROMAGERIE; THE BRITISH MUSEUM/SONGQUAN DENG; STORE STREET ESPRESSO

Heather Steele

Managing Lifestyle Director

When I’m out and about in London, I always make time for Store Street Espresso (which is excellently placed for a pre-British Museum caffeine hit). It’s also not far from brutalist hotspot the Brunswick Centre (one of the capital’s best monuments to modernism – if it’s raining then check out what’s on at the Curzon Cinema) and Lamb’s Conduit Street, one of my favourite streets in the city. It’s home to brilliant restaurants like Noble Rot, which has everything you’d want from a restaurant: a seasonal menu, friendly, on-the-mark service and a buzzy atmosphere. Plus there’s cheese shop/restaurant La Fromagerie, old-school, no-frills Italian Ciao Bella and Honey & Co., which has relocated to Lamb’s Conduit Street from Warren Street. Here, the team serves up all the classics – falafel, hummus, aubergine shawarma, chicken shish and the kitchen’s next-level cheesecake. I’ll also always make time for a pitstop pint at The Lamb.

Not far away you’ll find The Postal Museum, one of London’s true hidden gems. It’s worth it just to take a ride on the Mail Rail, a train that runs through the now-deserted postal railway tunnels beneath London’s streets – tunnels so secret they were used to hide the Rosetta Stone during WWI. Other museums in and around the Bloomsbury area include The Foundling MuseumSir John Soane’s Museum, the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, plus University College London’s Grant Museum of Zoology. Anyone who loves the Natural History Museum will love this smaller collection of animal artefacts.

“My perfect weekend starts with a reformer class at my local Pilates studio, The Reformery in Forest Gate. It’s more affordable than other studios and every single class is different. From there, I’ll usually grab a coffee from Giovanna’s and walk to the Olympic Park in Stratford. You can spend an hour walking around the gardens or jump on a Lime bike to explore the canals. From here, it’s easy to walk to Hackney Wick – one of my favourite spots to spend a sunny afternoon in the capital. My friends and I usually get some picnic bits from M&S and sit on the grass by the canal. That said, if we can get a table at Café Cecilia, a long lunch in the sunshine can’t be beaten. Most recently, I ordered burrata with mint and peas, steak frites and a delicious apricot sorbet. Perfect with a glass or two of pet nat. The nearby Number 90 is a great spot in the sunshine, as is Barge East, which serves nice cocktails and always has a buzzy atmosphere with cool DJs. After a few drinks in the sunshine, I like to walk home in the late afternoon. These days, I much prefer nights at home, so the weekend is all about relaxing and trying new recipes. I recently got a Sage pizza oven, so I’m looking forward to making some more homemade pizzas this summer – the oven cooks them in under two minutes which is pretty impressive. Gozney’s new Pizza Volume 01 Cookbook has some delicious recipes and tips on how to make the perfect dough. Pizza with a spicy picante in the garden is my idea of the perfect night in.”
