Make-Up Artist Leah Baines: 14 Products I Buy On Repeat

We’ve never been more spoilt for choice when it comes to the number of beauty products on offer, but most of us still have our favourites that we buy on repeat. In this series, we speak to beauty insiders to find out which products they buy time and again. Here, Australian make-up artist and go-to glow-giver, Leah Baines, shares her top 14, from radiance boosters to the cult cleanser she won’t be without.
01

Caudalie Vinopure Purifying Gel Cleanser, £16

This calls on the cleaning and purifying properties of salicylic acid, with a comforting gel texture that doesn’t strip the skin. Use it in circular motions and focus on pores, blackheads and bump areas for noticeable effects.

02

Charlotte Tilbury Eyes To Mesmerise in Star Gold, £22

A fool-proof way to up the ante on your make-up look, this creamy eyeshadow glides on with ease – even in the back of a taxi. Windscreen-wipe over your lids with your finger to create a subtle and supremely flattering finish.

03

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, £43

This is the base of choice for so many make-up artists. It has a silky-smooth texture that provides a weightless finish with tenacious staying power. Just a few layers will leave behind an enviable glow. Plus, it has a very inclusive shade range.

04

Jouer Cosmetics Powder Highlighter, £19

Despite being seriously pigmented, Jouer’s powder highlighter never looks too iridescent thanks to the creamy texture that melts into the skin. Brush on a little for a sheeny glow, or load it up for more of a chromatic finish. It looks beautiful on lids if you want to give them some subtle shimmer.

05

Kevyn Aucoin Lash Curler, £17

Versatile and easy to use on a variety of eye shapes, if you want to invest in good lash curlers, make it these. They’re lightweight and fit comfortably into hands for a natural, lifted finish that lasts.

06

Kevyn Aucoin The Neo Bronzer, £28

This bronzer lends believable warmth with minimal shimmer and suits all skin tones. One of the best for a beach-day flush – it blends seamlessly, too.

07

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, £16.50 (was £17.50)

This is an insider secret. More than just a lip balm, it has one of the most hydrating formulas with vitamin C, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid. Leave it on overnight to see the biggest difference – it quickly soothes dry patches and leaves lips feeling comforted and smooth.

08

Laura Mercier Foundation Radiance Primer, £30.50

The holy grail of primers, this is one of the best on the market. Lightweight, it sheers out and holds make-up in place without any caking. While it doesn’t provide coverage, it does give a luminous finish that can be worn without any foundation. A make-up bag staple.

09

Mario Badescu Facial Spray, £9.50

Whether it’s to freshen up skin, boost hydration or reawaken dull make-up, a little spritz of this works wonders. It’s great for setting make-up in place, too, and is gentle enough for all skin types.

10

MCO Beauty XtendLash Mascara, £22

With a coal-black formula, this doesn’t clump and instead lengthens and thickens lashes. The relatively small wand is easy to control and allows you to create maximum impact or a subtle, tinted look.

Available from McoBeauty.com

11

Nudestix Nudies Bloom Blush, £30

If you don’t like using your fingers to apply make-up, this blush stick comes with a convenient brush on the other end. Uncap it and dab the colour onto your skin before buffing it in with the soft bristles for a finish that’s dewy and fresh. A little goes a long way, too, so it’s worth the price tag.

12

Ole Henriksen Phat Glow Facial, £42

Bridging the gap between a cream and an exfoliating mask, this works to brighten, calm and give good glow simultaneously. PHAs gently get rid of dead skin and pore-clogging debris, while Nordic birch sap hydrates – it’s basically a facial bottled. You’ll find your skin illuminated and more reflective post-use.

Available from Boots.com

13

Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream, £23

Packed with caffeine, just a dab of this peachy cream soothes skin, boosts sluggish circulation and has anti-inflammatory properties to reduce further puffiness. It’s thin in texture so it sits imperceptibly underneath the rest of your make-up, while the in-built shimmer gives a brightening effect.

14

Salt By Hendrix Facial Roller, $44

Double-ended, this roller reaches every little area and helps to calm swelling and redness when used with upwards and outwards rolling motions. It helps to boost circulation too for an immediate glow. Plus, it feels so cooling when used with a serum or oil for extra slip.
