Expect a thorough consultation. Your therapist will chat through your specific skin concerns, allergies and more, so that they have a better idea of what will work for you. Be as detailed as possible to help your therapist get to know your skin – this can be done either over the phone or in person, but we recommend popping into the skin centre so you can also arrange a patch test at the same time.

A patch test is essential – especially if you’re opting for one of the more advanced treatments, that include a chemical peel. This checks that your skin can handle the professional formulas and minimises any adverse reactions. It also means that if your skin doesn't agree with something, the treatment can be adjusted to better suit you.

“I knew the Pro-Bright treatment was for me because I suffer from dark marks and scarring – especially on my cheeks as a result of hormonal acne and a little sun damage. These marks have always been difficult to fade, even with high-quality topical skincare. Since this treatment combines a brightening peel with an electric infusion of professional-grade vitamin C, niacinamide and hexylresorcinol, it sounded ideal. I’ve had a few vitamin and brightening facials in the past and unfortunately haven't seen great results, so it was intriguing to see if this would be any different – especially as the treatment only takes half an hour.”

What To Expect

“My skin therapist Sophie greeted me on arrival. After filling out my information, we started with a consultation where Sophie walked me through the treatment, asking about my skin concerns and existing products. Often facials can feel a bit clinical, but this location had a lovely spa-like feel.

“The treatment was so relaxing. Sophie took a good look at my skin under the light before starting and offered to add on an extraction to combat some of the blocked pores around my nose. I loved that the treatment could be flexible in this way. From the cleanse to the mask to the peel, each step was taken with incredible care and nothing felt rushed. I also appreciated that Sophie kept giving me prompts throughout the treatment, reminding me what she was about to do while checking in that I felt okay. I did feel a slight tingle during the chemical peel – which is normal, and I was told to expect it.”

The Best Bit

“My favourite part of the treatment was the clinical oatmeal mask, which was sealed with another contour mask. This had a cooling effect that felt incredibly satisfying, and it was left on for around five minutes. There were also small spa-like touches, including a hydrating mist that was spritzed early on. It’s great that, along with focusing on my skin, the treatment also involved other sensory elements which really contributed to the experience.”

“Sophie finished by applying a few of Dermalogica’s hero skincare products. This included the BioLumin-C serum, BioLumin-C Eye Serum, the Antioxidant HydraMist & the PowerBright SPF 50 Moisturiser. It was such a treat to leave the treatment with a full face of skincare – not surprising, but my skin felt soft and glow-y all day.”

“After the treatment, Sophie explained a few of the Dermalogica products she had used in more detail – including listing out their individual benefits and how to maintain results at home. She also gave me some samples to try, which was a nice added touch.”
