The Brightening Serum Beauty Insiders Swear By
CREATED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OLEHENRIKSEN
So what’s the latest launch all about?
The newest addition to Ole Henriksen's cult Banana Bright™ range, the Vitamin C Serum is the skincare essential you didn’t know you needed. Concentrated with radiance-bestowing vitamin C, quenching hyaluronic acid, plumping PHAs, and MUA-inspired banana powder, this serum is designed to impart a healthy and natural glow.
Tell us more about the brand…
A Danish skincare brand founded by a cosmetician of the same name, Ole Henriksen is now one of the biggest names in beauty, especially when it comes to results-driven, botanical-inspired formulas that deliver on their promise. After studying cosmetic chemistry in London, Henriksen opened his first Beverly Hills spa in 1975, and quickly developed an A-list following who turned to him for his cult ‘Ole Glow’. In 1984, he launched his own affordable skincare line to bring his knowledge to the masses. Fast forward three decades and Ole Henriksen’s award-winning products are industry favourites and he remains Hollywood’s go-to botanical beauty expert.
What’s inside the new serum?
The star ingredients at work are vitamin C and PHAs. Packed with 15% vitamin C (the brand’s highest concentration for daily use) and 5% skin-smoothing PHAs, an alternative to AHAs, the formula will reduce the appearance of pores and dark spots; improve skin’s elasticity; protect against environmental damage; and gently exfoliate the surface of the skin to loosen dry and dead skin cells and reveal fresher skin beneath. You’ll also find a hefty dose of hydrating hyaluronic acid and vitamin E, a potent antioxidant to nourish your complexion.
Does it have a banana scent?
Despite its name, the serum doesn’t actually contain bananas. Instead, it gets its name from – and was inspired by – banana powder, a yellow-toned setting powder make-up artists use to brighten skin and colour correct. Alongside vitamin C, banana powder-inspired pigments supercharge the illuminating properties of this super serum, which has a fresh, citrus fragrance.
Who’s it for?
If you’re looking for a tried-and-tested product guaranteed to banish dullness and transform your skin in as little as seven days, look no further. The serum is also ideal for urbanites or those concerned with environmental stressors, and those looking to actively target fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots and uneven texture. Consider it a beauty all-rounder.
Does it really work?
Absolutely. In a consumer study, 91% of women said the serum significantly brightened their complexion after just one week; while 94% said it revitalised their skin, and 94% said it helped create a healthy-looking glow.
How should you use it?
After cleansing, smooth one pump of Banana Bright™ Vitamin C Serum evenly across your face, including your neck and décolletage. As an antioxidant, vitamin C needs to be as close to the skin as possible. Just remember to always use an SPF during the day when using the serum, as PHAs can make your skin more sensitive. In fact, the experts say you should continue to use SPF for up to a week afterwards, too.
Anything else?
If that wasn’t enough, the serum is vegan, gluten and cruelty-free and doesn’t contain parabens, sulfates or phthalates.
