IN THE AM…

I like to keep things simple and effective. I start with a gentle cleanser then move onto an eye cream. At the moment I’m using one from Soho Skin which comes with a handy metal applicator that can be used to depuff the under-eye area too. This is super important to me in the mornings as I don't usually get more than six hours of sleep. A vitamin C serum that targets pigmentation, scarring and also brightens usually comes next.

I typically opt for oil-free skincare. The Shani Darden Weightless Oil-free Moisturiser is a favourite because I have oily, blemish-prone skin. Lightweight, it absorbs quickly into the skin, and has one of my favourite ingredients in it – squalane. It really helps soothe my skin if I’ve broken out. I sometimes use the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask if it's really cold outside as it's super thick and nourishing, but non-comedogenic. I’ll finish off with an overnight lip mask for an intense moisture boost.

Consistency is key. Sticking to my dedicated routine works best for me, not chopping and changing. However, if it's super cold outside I'll add a couple of drops of rosehip oil for extra hydration. I recommend applying products in upward and outward motions to lift the skin and get the blood circulating too. A cryo tool which has been kept in the fridge overnight is also a saviour at this stage – if I have the time. I'll use it post serum, pre moisturiser, then finish up with two fingers’ worth of SPF50.

When it comes to make-up, I keep things minimal. I try not to wear any unless I have an event to go to. If I am, I’ll usually prep my skin with the Elf Cosmetics C-Bright Putty Primer for a smooth, dewy base. Chanel Water Fresh Tint, Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint and Summer Fridays  Sheer Skin Tint are my favourite foundations as their formulas are all light, but with just the right amount of coverage. I then use the Pearl Beauty Lip and Face Sticks for a soft touch of colour on the cheeks, followed by the RMS Beauty Highlighter for a beautiful pearly, sheer glow. I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze on my brows, and Benefit’s They're Real Magnet Mascara – but I’ll always curl my lashes first. I like to keep my lips hydrated so I finish things off with Glossier’s Balm Dotcom or a Fenty Lip Gloss depending on where I'm going.

I don't have a lot of time for self-care in the morning. I love to shower with body oil and exfoliate at least twice a week with the Ouai Body Scrub. Moisturising post shower is non-negotiable for me – I don't feel complete if I don't moisturise from head to toe! I love mixing the Mirror Water Body Rub into a moisturiser for ultimate hydration. The Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse is also a winner for its addictive scent.

IN THE PM...

I always double cleanse. Whether I have been wearing make-up or not, I start with a cream or oil-based cleanser – like the cleansing balms from Elemis or a hot cloth cleanser from Liz Earle – then follow with a gently foaming cleanser like the Cleansing Serum from Shani Darden. I swear by these face pads from the Sali Hughes X Revolution collection – they're fluffy and are great at thoroughly getting everything off your face, plus they stay intact after a wash.

An exfoliating treatment or mask is also essential. The Papaya Enzyme Treatment from Elemis or a great mask is usually my go-to. I apply a clay-based mask once or twice a week to draw out impurities. Some of my favourites are the Kaolin Clay Mask from the Inkey List or the Caudalie Vinergetic Detox Mask. My top tip for applying clay masks is to use a brush. I have one from Tropic which is incredible as it ensures you won’t waste any product. If I've done a clay mask, I’ll follow it with a hydrating serum which is usually probiotic based. If not, I use the Super Solution 20% Niacinamide serum. This is incredible at keeping my pores clear, aids blemishes and regulates sebum production.

Niacinamide is my holy grail at the moment. I'm still breastfeeding so retinols and BHAs are no-nos. I then lock everything in with either an overnight mask like the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask or the Inur Beauty Sleep Mask and a couple of drops of rosehip oil to aid with any scarring and pigmentation. If I have a lot of time on my hands and I'm feeling bougie, I’ll use my red light mask from Current Body with a serum and then moisturise. I try to do this twice a week to keep my collagen levels up and to help with fine lines.

My top tip is to do all evening skincare two hours before bed. This ensures everything has fully absorbed into the skin before it hits the pillow. Every night before I go to sleep, I write in my journal, say my prayers and read a chapter of a book – at the moment it’s a book about grief called The Orphaned Adult.
