7 At-Home Peels To Try For Luminous Skin

Peels are big business in beauty these days and rightly so. In fact they’re the quickest way to rejuvenate tired complexions while blurring wrinkles and pigmentation. Here, are seven of our favourites…

1. DCL Multi-Action Penta Peel, £58

Reach for one of these pre-soaked pads when you’re looking to target uneven texture and tone. Saturated with phytic, lactic and mandelic acid, they gently get to work smoothing rough spots (especially red bumps under the skin) and unclogging blocked pores. Despite the potent blend of exfoliating ingredients, they’re surprisingly gentle and can be used three times a week for fresh-looking skin.

2. Dr Dennis Gross Professional Grade Resurfacing Liquid Peel, £102

If you’re looking to get as close to an in-salon peel as possible, look no further than this new two-step system. Designed by dermatologist, Dr. Dennis Gross, it works to minimise enlarged pores by exfoliating them with lactic, glycolic and other Alpha Beta acids. It also sloughs off dead skin cells without any stinging or irritation, so it’s a great choice for any first-time peelers.

3. Mario Badescu Rolling Cream Peel With AHA, £15.50

Designed to exfoliate and hydrate, Badescu’s peel looks and feels like a thick clay mask. You apply a thin layer all over, then wait for a few minutes before starting to massage your skin, allowing the formula to come off in little balls. It’s pretty satisfying but you do have to rub quite a bit to get everything off. AHA’s and lactic acid keep the skin refined and smooth while vitamin E and shea butter ensures you don’t feel tight or overly dry post-use. Expect a velvety-soft finish.

4. The Body Shop Drops Of Youth Liquid Peel, £18

One of the easiest DIY peels we’ve ever used, a few drops of this onto skin post-cleanse gently lifts away the day’s dirt for a fresher, smoother and more luminous tone. It uses plant stem cells to remove impurities and pollutants and is 100% vegan, too. All you need is warm water and a flannel to remove it from the skin. It’s particularly good for those with acne-prone complexions or anyone with lots of excess oil.

5. The Ordinary Peeling Solution, £6.25

Using a strong mix of BHAs and AHAs (lactic, glycolic and salicylic), this potent formula helps to shrink spots and boost dull, lacklustre complexions. To prevent irritation, The Ordinary added in hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 to counteract redness and assist in the skin’s speedy healing process.

6. Caudalie Glycolic Peel, £22

This powerhouse peel exfoliates and scrubs at the same time to bring cell renewal up to speed for a fresh and even-looking glow. Using papaya enzymes and glycolic acid to resurface and refine, you’ll notice visible results straight away – ideal when your skin needs an instant pick-me-up.

7. Exuviance Performance Peel, £57 (was £60)

No need to faff around with a liquid, these derm-approved peels can be used twice a week. With 5* ratings all-round, they bring out your skin’s inner glow instantly, while leaving your complexion feeling soft, supple and toned. Be wary though, these are pretty strong, so not suitable for those with overly sensitive skin types.
