The SL Team’s Under-The-Radar Make-Up Picks

Plenty of big-name beauty products deserve their place in the spotlight, but here at SL we know there are also some hidden gems just as worthy of attention. From glow-giving primers to party-ready lipsticks and a lash-lengthening mascara, we asked members of the SL team to share their under-the-radar favourites.

Stick No1 Blush, £23 | Loni Baur

Rated by: Rebecca Hull, Senior Beauty Editor

"I love a do-it-all make-up stick and this one is my current favourite. Soft, creamy and easy to apply, it gives skin a fresh, healthy flush that looks nice on the lids and the lips. Plus, the added argan and almond oils make it feel so hydrating on the skin."

Skin Nova, £27 | Vieve

Rated by: Sapna Rao, Junior Fashion & Beauty Writer

“Although I first started using this to enhance my summer glow, it’s quickly become a winter hero, too – it’s perfect if you want that ‘glass-skin' finish. Also, because the formula is like a primer, it helps any make-up applied on top look even better. Make it your go-to on those dry days when your skin needs a bit of a pick-me-up.”

Sensitive Skin Red Skin Tinted SPF, £21.99 | Frezyderm

Rated by: Tor West, Senior Health & Wellness Editor

"Frezyderm is a Greek pharmacy brand that makes great products for reactive, sensitive skin. This has been my go-to base for a couple of years now – everything else I've tried since hasn't come close in terms of coverage, hydration and longevity. I also love that it contains SPF30, which keeps inflammation and redness under control. "

The Color Pen Eyeliner, £11.12 | 3INA Makeup

Rated by: Sherri Andrew, Lifestyle Editor

"Black eyeliner doesn't suit me, but I love a coloured liquid eyeliner for a bit of fun. These ones by 3INA Makeup are super pigmented and last for hours, especially if you use an eyeshadow primer first. I like to do a simple cat-eye flick with the orange one, which looks really nice on warmer skin tones. Make-up artist Katie Jane Hughes has the best tutorials on Instagram if you're feeling adventurous and want to try a graphic line."

Lipstick Refill, £10.50 | Paul & Joe

Rated by: Heather Steele, Managing Lifestyle Editor

“I love French brand Paul & Joe, which is now available to shop online at Sephora. As well as its make-up priming skincare range, I really rate its refillable lipsticks, especially deep pink shade 126 Clignancourt. The brightly coloured illustrated lipstick cases always make me smile when I reach into my make-up bag.”

Plumping Blush Glow-plexion, £26 | Studio 10

Rated by: Georgina Blaskey, Interiors & Home Editor

I wear this under my foundation for a sun-kissed glow. It evens out my skin tone and helps any foundation applied on top to look its best. I love how it livens up my skin when it looks a bit tired – I even think it helps me look a bit younger, too!”

Highly Rated Anti-Gravity Mascara, £14.25 | Milani

Rated by: Harriet Russell, Chief Sub-Editor & Features Manager

"Milani was a brand YouTubers went crazy for a few years back, but you don't hear it talked about as much now. I've been loyal to Maybelline's The Falsies mascara for the best part of a decade, so the fact I think this is a match says something. It doesn't transfer or flake, and yet it doesn’t require a waterproof eye make-up remover to get it off at the end of the day either."
