Powder Lipsticks Are The Next Big Thing
Taking the form of palettes, pens and spongy-tipped wands (although keep an eye out for MAC's innovative Powder Kiss bullets, spotted backstage at NYFW) powdered lipstick offers an intensive punch of pigment that can be customised by building or blotting. Rather than a defined, lined edge, powders gently fade, giving you the option of a much softer effect if desired. Once applied, instead of sitting on top of your lips like liquid formulas, the powder melts into the skin and locks the colour in place – meaning no matter how long you've got it on, it won't budge.
How should you apply it? Director of Education & Artistry at Buxom Cosmetics, David Birdwell explains: “To achieve a just-kissed, stain-like finish, bounce the sponge tip, just like a beauty sponge for the face, in the center of the lips so that the color payoff in primarily in the center. Then with the excess of the product bounce from the center out toward the lip line.”
