FOR COVERAGE…
£: Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Liquid Foundation
££: Clarins Everlasting Youth Fluid Foundation SPF 15 in 109 Wheat
Nicola used this exact Clarins foundation to create a luminous, creamy texture. But you can get a similar finish from Maybelline’s base, which conceals pores and mattifies, without feeling cakey or dry. Buff either formula in with a brush, in dabbing motions, for a naturally radiant glow and an even blend.
FOR EYESHADOW…
£: Kiko Milano Water Eyeshadow in Olive Green
££: Charlotte Tilbury Eyes To Mesmerise in Veruschka
Try Nicola’s tip and start by placing the colour in the middle of your eye – this is where you want most of the product to sit. Keep pushing it down into the lids, and you’ll soon see the creamy texture start to seal into place. Take it right up to the brow and into the corners of your eyes. For the same 3D finish, take a dab of Surratt’s Lid Lacquer in Hadaka and press it into the middle of the eyes, as Nicola did here.
FOR LINER…
£: Rimmel Ultimate Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil in Smoked Emerald
££: MAC Pro Longwear Eye Liner in Devotion
Add further definition to the eyes like Nicola did by taking a green liner and pencilling it into the waterline, and all around the eyes – take it on upper lids and run it along to the outer corners. You can then use either your finger or a smudging brush to blend out the colour for a more diffused edge that’s not too defined. Too much sharpness can have an ageing effect on the eyes, so keep it as buffed in as possible for a softer effect.
FOR LASHES…
£: NYX Worth The Hype Volumising & Lengthening Mascara
££: Laura Mercier Caviar Volume Mascara
Complete the statement eye by loading up lashes with mascara. Take your wand right to the root and wriggle it to the ends of lashes for the fullest effect. The eyeshadow is the main talking point, so you don’t need to overdo it, but a few coats will give you a similar effect to Nicola’s look. Use mascaras that deliver immediate inkiness and depth, like NYX’s and Laura Mercier’s – which was the exact product used by Nicola.
FOR BRONZER…
£: Elf Cosmetics Cream Contour Palette
££: Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel
Orange and khaki tones work well together, as Nicola demonstrates here, so be sure to sweep on your bronzer all over (cheekbones, bridge of the nose and forehead) to really bring the skin to life. Nicola used Chanel’s cult Soleil Tan, but Elf’s Contour Palette is a worthy replica, with silky textures that blend seamlessly onto the skin.
FOR BLUSHER…
£: Mark Blush Stick in Powder Pink
££: Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Blossoming
This look required barely any blush, aside from a small amount at the very middle (apples) of the cheeks. Pat on with your fingers and opt for a cream formula that’s easy to blend – the other benefit of these textures is the healthy sheen they lend skin, which makes sure everything doesn’t look too matte or one dimensional.
FOR HIGHLIGHT…
£: Revolution Beauty Liquid Highlighter
££: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecting Liquid
Just a tiny amount of highlighter was smattered across Nicola’s cheeks here. She used a pump of Becca’s Skin Perfecting Liquid and buffed it in over her cheekbones with Real Technique’s 421 Soft Accent Brush for subtle illumination that catches the light, without looking too shimmery or galactic. Look to Revolution’s Liquid Highlighter for a similar dewy effect.
FOR BROWS…
£: Zoeva Graphic Brow Fix
££: Suqqu Brow Gel
No pencils or powders were used for this look, just Suqqu’s Brow Gel, which was run from the front of the brows and brushed upwards to give them plenty of texture and just enough pigment.
FOR LIPS…
£: L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Plump & Shine 107
££: Becca Lipstick in Bare
Let the eyes do the talking and keep lips neutral with Becca’s lipstick in Bare. For another suits-all nude that’s more affordable, look to L’Oréal’s Plump & Shine in 107, which is an almost exact replica. Nicola lined her lips first for extra shape, but you can just take colour straight from your lipstick’s bullet if you don’t want to over-define.
TOOLS…
£: Real Techniques Setting Brush
££: Hourglass Veil Powder Brush
The Real Techniques brush was used here to buff foundation into skin for a lighter (but still noticeable) colour payoff. Plus, the use of a brush like this forces the product to sink into skin fast, especially if you use it in deft, dabbing motions. Both options are great for concealing pores and refining the skin’s texture.
