The Best New Beauty Buys For February
Cheap Thrill…
Lottie London Eye Foil, £4.95
There’s not a single shade we don’t want to wear out of the eight available. The feather soft creams pack a potent pigment punch and they’re so easy to use with their swipe-and-go wands. We will be playing with shades Sell Out and Too Much for parties while keeping Feels for daytime wear. An absolute high street steal.
Flawless Face…
Guerlain L’Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation, £44
February brings a new wave of top tier creamy foundations. Our favourite? This glow giver from Guerlain. It hovers over the skin like a pigmented blurring veil, feeling almost as light as air. The formula is sheer and dewy but builds up nicely for extra coverage – so you’ll be able to sling your messy concealer too. Its broad shade range of 30 is another big bonus too.
3INA The Custom Drops, £12.95
Instead of keeping multiple shades of foundation around for each season, you can now fine-tune your go-to shades with 3INA’s new drops. Whether you use them to boost your base or to turn your moisturiser into more of a tint, we guarantee you’ll have fun playing with these game-changers.
Hand & Body Treats…
L’Occitane x Rifle Paper Shea Butter Hand Cream, £21.50
Central heating and the cold weather have taken their toll on our weary hands at the moment. Sound familiar? Thankfully, this pretty cream has come to the rescue. Packed with hydrating coconut oil and soothing honey, you can expect your hands to be nourished back to their softer selves in no time. It’s quickly become our new desk drawer staple.
Latest In Haircare…
OGX Charcoal Detox Shampoo and Conditioner, £6.99
OGX has to be one of our favourite haircare brands for their ‘does what it says on the tin’ formulas, and their latest duo is no exception. Packed with exfoliating kaolin clay and charcoal, they encourage you to pay attention to your scalp while giving it a much-needed detox. Busting through grime and product build-up, you can expect your strands to feel healthier, lighter and completely refreshed straight away. Consider these scalp saviours the equivalent of a deep facial cleanse.
Redken Dry Shampoo Powder 02, £14.66
Redken’s dry shampoo is a two-for-once since it also works as scalp refresher thanks to the new inclusion of exfoliating charcoal (yep, more of the grey stuff). It’s made with a super fine powder to freshen up your roots and give strands a real lift that lasts. You can also use a smattering to zhush up your blow dry, or to boost an updo that’s been, well, up for a bit too long….
Tinted Lip Soothers…
Kiehl’s Love Oil For Lips, £18
A sheer, glowing wash of colour that glides on like a gloss, wears like a lipstick, but feels marshmallow-soft like a balm, thanks to hydrating moringa oils and acerola cherry extract. Available in four very suits-all, pretty shades.
LANO Rose Gold 101 Ointment, £13
Light and glossy without any stickiness, a slick of this rosy red balm will leave your lips slightly rouged while delivering a juicy dose of sunflower and castor oil to cure chapped, flaky skin. If you want to amp the colour up, just go for a few more coats to build a stronger hit of colour. Looks pretty on the cheeks too!
Marc Jacobs Beauty Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayons, £20
These elegant alternatives to black may look scary but believe us they’re anything but. Thanks to their liquid gel they glide seamlessly along the lash line while the pretty, inky shades set in seconds, and then do not budge one bit. For inspiration on how to wear them, look to make-up master Morgane Martini who’s been using them to create different styles and looks on her Instagram: morgane_martini. It’s also worth noting these dinky crayons are selling like hot cakes, so be quick whatever you do.
Must-Have Make-Up…
Chanel Baume Essentiel in Transparent, £33
Perfect for those who want to highlight but in the subtlest way possible. Think Vaseline’s glossy texture combined with a glimmering Instagram filter and that’s the exact finish you get from Chanel’s new balm. It catches the light beautifully while delivering the perfect amount of sheen to the face and lips – even eyes if you want to give the wet-lid look a go.
New Innovations…
GHD Glide, £125
There’s a buzz around hot brushes right now, especially GHD’s latest which promises to switch up your hair routine. Yes, it’s expensive, but for good reason. It gives you the silky, lustrous effects of a blowout in ten minutes flat (no longer, we promise) and has the added benefit of reducing frizziness thanks to its anti-static ioniser and pearl ceramic coating which prevents snagging. We trialled it and found thicker hair got slightly better results than fine, but nonetheless, both hair types will still get enviable sleekness. We’re hooked.
L’Oreal Lash Serum, £12.99
Lash serums – they seem to be everywhere right now – and they can be a bit confusing, but L’Oreal’s latest serum stands out for its ease of use and thrifty price tag. Its results are impressive too, with 81% of users agreeing their lashes looked fuller after use. Formulated with nourishing castor oil and hydrating hyaluronic acid, expect your lashes to feel stronger, healthier and look glossier within weeks.
Skincare Saviour…
Pixi by Petra Vitamin-C Juice Cleanser, £18
Out of their new five-strong vitamin C range, this is our favourite. It’s a brilliant foolproof cleanser that gives skin an instant brightening effect with no irritation, unlike other vitamin C products we’ve tried. Use as the first step in your cleansing routine, or alone if you’re after a speedy makeup removal fix. It also protects from damaging pollution with a generous dose of ferulic acid – extra bonus.
