THE GLOSS: Shine Liquid Lip Colour, £27.90 | Chanel

Chanel created the impossible with these lip launches. They combine a plumping shine and expensive-looking gloss that lasts, but dries down fast, so they stay budge-proof all day long. We love the antioxidant oils inside which maintain hydration and a smooth, velvety finish that's second to none. As for the pigment, they're rich and intense but sheer enough to be built upon – the options are endless, with shades that suit all.

THE LIQUID: Rouge À Lèvres Liquide Matte Lipstick, £36 | Gucci

Traditionally, liquid lipsticks have earnt a bad rep for being drying and flaky, but Gucci’s is nothing of the sort. With a creamy, smooth texture, it’s comfortable to wear and feels hydrating. Best of all, it has impressive budge-proof benefits and it blends easily with a velvety, diffused finish that’s very on trend. There are heaps of shades to choose from, but we love the vivid post-box Goldie Red which suits every skin tone.

THE LIPSTICK: Colour Block Lipstick, £28 | Ilia Beauty

Ilia is one of our favourite brands at SheerLuxe and its lipsticks offer some of the best coverage. Full of castor seed oil, they never feel heavy or thick, just smooth and hydrating, despite giving maximum colour payoff for hours. You only need a single swipe – or build it up for further impact, the choice is yours. There are lots of shades available, but we love the number of soft neutrals, including Rosette for everyday wear – it looks great paired with a smokey eye.

THE MATT: Color Riche Intense Volume Matte Lipstick, £9.99 | L’Oreal Paris

Merging a velvet-matte colour with a velvety, hydrating finish, these lipsticks from L’Oréal are seriously impressive. Ingredients like jojoba oil and silk powder mean application is always smooth, while the slim bullet and rounded head is easy to apply even when on the go. You’ll find it lasts all day – even after drinking and eating. Its affordability is an added bonus. There are lots of shades to choose from, with plenty of suits-all neutrals, but look out for the coral shades which instantly warm skin up.

THE PENCIL: Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, £17.60 | NARS

NARS Lip Pencils are constantly recommended by the pros. Not only does their creamy texture help to sculpt and shape lips, they have rich, vivid colours that are very flattering. Full of vitamin E and silky emollients, they hydrate and nourish while allowing for a smooth, even blend. They wear really well too – you’ll find the colour mutes as the day goes on, but only a little, leaving behind a soft, subtle wash of colour.

THE BALM: Stay Vulnerable Glossy Lip Balm, £16 | Rare Beauty

This is one of the most popular products in the Rare Beauty line. A lip gloss and balm in one, it provides speedy moisture with ingredients like sunflower seed oil and flower extracts. It also gives a plumping effect at the outer edges of your lips for the illusion of fullness. As the glossiness wears off, the colour stays behind, less impactful but enough to make a difference to your complexion overall. Never sticky or thick, it feels good on the lips with a smooth finish that’s comfortable and easy to build on. No wonder it’s regularly out of stock.

THE STAIN: Bitten Lip Tint, £32 | Victoria Beckham

Full of hyaluronic acid and nourishing squalane, these lips tints do so much more than provide long-lasting colour. Visibly plumping the lips, they give a fuller effect, hydrate and never cause any stickiness, so you can dab a little onto cheeks for extra colour. The shades themselves are sheer, but they give lips a healthy flush that suits all skin tones and goes the distance – you’ll find they’re still firmly on your lips come 6pm.

THE CREAM: Velvet Story Lip Cream, £35 | Hourglass

This lip cream ticks all the right boxes and is unlike anything else. It has a velvety – almost whipped – texture that feels weightless when you apply it. Just a small amount gives lips full colour with a blurred effect that’s soft and fresh – think Bridgerton make-up. Unlike other matte formulas, it doesn’t crack, bleed or settle into lip lines, thanks to vitamin E which keeps hydration locked in. There are six shades available, but we love Crush – a deep coral that works year round and quickly brightens teeth.
