4 Make-Up Products For Flawless Skin
Created in partnership with Laura Mercier
The ‘Flawless Face’ Background…
Laura Mercier’s brand ethos is ‘an enhancement of your own natural beauty’ – something Laura herself set out to champion without the need for a lengthy routine. First and foremost, Laura wanted a range of products that not only satisfied the needs of her existing clients, but also worked hard to celebrate your own individuality. Laura wanted to combine these suits-all products with a routine that could be used sparingly to boost your natural features, rather than cover them with heavy make-up. That’s where the idea for ‘Flawless Face’ came from. Aiming to bring professional artistry techniques to beauty novices, it’s a simple step-by-step guide that’s stood the test of time and allows you to easily celebrate and define your best features.
The Steps Explained…
‘Flawless Face,’ was a concept designed with ease in mind, so it makes sense that it only has four steps. It starts with either one of the Pure Canvas Primers to prep and smooth your skin (alternatively, you can mix the two together). Then, follow up with the brand's iconic Tinted Moisturiser, applying the Flawless Fusion Concealer to the areas that need it most — think around the nose, eyes and other areas prone to redness. Keeping coverage minimal like this will allow for a more natural finish. To finish the look, apply a dusting of the brand’s iconic Translucent Loose Setting Powder. Each of these products is designed to work with each another, making a smooth, even finish easily achievable – whether you want to create full-coverage, or a fresher, healthier glow, in just five minutes.
The Products To Try It With…
Pure Canvas Primer, £34
Always highly recommended by make-up artists, this bestselling primer is essential for creating a smooth, flawless base. It hides open pores, refines wrinkles and allows make-up to glide on seamlessly for a more natural finish – it’s the first step in the ‘flawless face’ routine. It’s available in several formulas now, so you can choose based on your individual preference and needs – be it illumination, hydration or minimising oiliness.
Top Tip: Start by applying your primer in the middle of your face – to the nose and forehead. These are the places that tend to turn shiny and oily, as well as show movement and visible pores. Then, apply a small amount anywhere else you feel is prone to that 4pm shine. Light layers will prevent pilling and help everything else you apply afterwards to adhere properly.

Tinted Moisturiser Natural Skin Perfector, £36
Without question one of the most iconic tinted moisturisers of all time. Living up to the promise of being a moisturiser — with hydrating macadamia, kukui seed oils and antioxidant vitamins E and C — it also blurs imperfections including redness, under eye circles and breakouts. We love that it’s available in 20 shades, from pearl to cacao, and protects with SPF30. It also comes in oil-free and illuminating formulas, including its latest 'Light Revealer,' so there really is something for everyone. No wonder the experts swear by it.
Top Tip: For the most natural coverage, apply your or tinted moisturiser from the centre of your face outwards, thinning it out towards the jaw and hairline to ensure it blends seamlessly and lends coverage to the areas that need it most, like around the nose and under the eyes.

Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Concealer, £25
Designed for touch-ups and application only where you need it most, this concealer has excellent coverage. Immediately, it covers pigmentation, dullness and uneven tone, with a little going a long way. Apply it with a tiny brush on any problem points, gently dabbing it with your finger to blend everything out.
Top Tip: Use this to cover up and brighten any areas that need it. Take a good look at your skin after applying your foundation and decide which areas you’d like to correct. Then, take a small amount and dab it on with your ring finger – less is more; remember, it’s easier to build up than take away.

Translucent Setting Powder, £34
This is the UK’s number one setting powder for a reason. Considered the holy grail for both make-up artists and A-listers (including JLo and Victoria Beckham) it coats the skin with a mattified veil and there’s zero flashback when it’s caught on camera. The clever formula controls excess oil and minimises the appearance of enlarged pores and you can now buy a limited-edition jumbo size to celebrate the brand’s 25th anniversary – it will last you for months, if not years.
Top Tip: A little goes a long way with this fine powder. Use a tapered, fluffy brush and tap any excess off on the back of your hand first. Then, brush it over the areas that get shiny and oily. It works well dusted over the under-eye area too, to prevent mascara from transferring.
