Empties: The Products Our Beauty Editor Has Finished This Month

As you can imagine, SL beauty editor Rebecca Hull tries and tests hundreds of new products that land on her desk each week. The constant rotation means it’s rare she reaches the dregs of any product. So when she does, you can be sure it’s something worth shouting about. From a thick cleansing balm to everyday essentials, here are her latest empties…
01

Collosol Eau de Lait, £9.50

One of France’s best kept beauty secrets, it’s a clear, milky cleanser that’s no-rinse and gently removes make-up, while still refreshing and moisturising the skin thanks to glycerine and hydrating oils. It was designed for babies to use too, so even the most sensitive of skin types can get involved.

02

Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Foaming Pads, £14.95

Despite being quite strong (2% glycolic acid) these are surprisingly kind to skin, while still giving a thorough exfoliation. One side is textured, to get rid of dead skin cells and surface grime, while the smoother side polishes and rehydrates with hyaluronic acid, leaving complexions looking smoother, brighter and more refined.

03

Drunk Elephant Slaai Make-Up Melting Butter Cleanser, £29

Using a blend of oil and milk, this thick, balmy cleanser soaks up all traces of dirt, debris and make-up in one satisfying swipe. It’s also rich in antioxidants, fruit extracts and ultra-fine charcoal to exfoliate, so it always leaves skin feeling smooth and soft.

04

Clinique Even Better Make-Up SPF15 Foundation, £22.60

One of the best foundations out there, it provides full coverage without ever feeling cakey or suffocating – perfect for this time of year. You only need a couple of pumps, with the light-as-air texture guaranteed to leave behind a luminous finish.

05

Trinny London BFF Eye Serum + Concealer, £26

This dewy, hydrating concealer is easily one of the best on the market. With hyaluronic acid and brightening vitamin C, it also doubles up as a nourishing under-eye serum. A brilliant product that gives skin a soft glow, you could easily wear this without foundation on a good skin day.

06

Byredo Blanche Eau de Parfum, £110

White rose, peony and neroli come together for a really crisp, fresh smell - just think newly washed sheets. If the price tag makes you wince, the brand does a Textile Perfume - especially for clothes, but it can be used on skin too - in ‘Toile’ which is almost an exact replica at a fraction of the cost.

07

Kristin Ess The One Signature Shampoo & Conditioner, £11 each

This duo helps make hair look shinier, feel healthier and gives it noticeably more weight. Designed to work on every hair type, the shampoo and conditioner are both formulated with Zip-Up Repair Technology (a strengthening formula) that targets weak hair, while smoothing damaged cuticles and protecting colour from fading.

08

Le Labo Tonka 25 Shower Gel, £37

Expensive for a body wash, but the percentage of fragrance inside makes this worth the price tag – especially if you’re a fan of Le Labo perfumes. Newly launched, it gently cleanses without stripping away moisture from the skin thanks to nourishing antioxidants and vitamin E. The heady smell of Tonka 25 will linger on your skin for a day or two – a great alternative if you can’t afford the EDPs themselves.

09

Fenty Beauty Pro Kiss’r Luscious Lip Balm, £15

This smooth balm doubles up as a gloss, thanks to its high-shine finish. The doe-foot applicator makes it easy to apply on the go, but the moisturise-rich formula also feels really luxe, thanks to shea and mango-seed butters that get rid dry, chapped skin within days.

10

Glossier Colorslide Eye Pencil in Critical Mass, £13

Creamy, softly pigmented and easy to blend, Glossier’s coloured pencils add a point of interest to any look and are muted enough to be worn during the day too. This dark magenta hue complements green and blue eyes beautifully. Just a little in the waterline makes a huge, eye-opening difference, with minimal smudging.

11

Jillian Dempsey Cheek Tint in Rosy, £26.50

A staple in many pros’ kits, this blush has a buildable formula that can take colour from sheer to opaque in seconds, depending how much you use. Try using a brush to really buff the colour in, but fingers will also do for a healthy flush of colour. Great for all skin types, the creamy textures give warmth and don’t sink into fine lines. While this Rosy shade is quite bold, it’s looks surprisingly fresh on the skin.

12

Lumene Nordic-C Pure Glow Cleansing Balm, £29.90

Brimming with Arctic plant extracts, Lumene’s Glow Cleansing Balm has a silky texture that’s enjoyable to use, melting off make-up with zero irritation or greasy residue. You’ll notice it gives skin a brighter tone as well, which is down to the high levels of vitamin C.
