Take A Power Shower
An invigorating morning shower is a no-brainer, but I like to maximise my time in there by using a few energising extras. I recently discovered the Mirror Water range from influencer Estée Lalonde and can confirm that the Buff Body Exfoliator is the perfect antidote to groggy mornings. The scent is made up of woody notes, with a vibrant, herbal kick. I love how my skin feels soft and sparkling afterwards but not stripped of moisture. I’m also enjoying Bloom & Blossom’s Lather Up Body Cleanser. The eucalyptus and bergamot scent fills the bathroom, while the very generous bottle size means you don’t need to worry about sharing it with other halves or kids.
Use Skin Cocktailing
My morning routine always involves some kind of skincare cocktailing, and my favourite combination right now includes the 20% Vitamin C Brighten & Firm Serum from Allies of Skin. If you don’t know this brand, its reputation is built on high concentration, clinically proven ingredients-led products. I use this alongside a new favourite from Byoma, a skincare brand that focuses on supporting the skin barrier to achieve a bouncier, healthier complexion. I’ve been using the Brightening Serum, which contains hyaluronic acid and a ceramide complex, among other things. It’s given my skin a real injection of radiance and I also love the fact that this – and the whole range – is really affordable, not least because at this time of year when my skin is so parched, I go through bottles of hydrating serums.
Focus On The Eyes
Unless you’re lucky enough to get eight hours of deep, uninterrupted sleep every night, dark circles and puffiness are par for the course. The best solution I’ve found thus far is a great eye cream, a good concealer and a little ice to take down the puffiness. I’ve recently discovered Rose Inc’s Cooling Spheres. Ergonomic globes that live in the fridge, these aid circulation and lymphatic drainage to help my face look a lot brighter and tauter than it should.
Swap High-Coverage Foundations For A Bit Of Glow
Never underestimate the power of a glow-giving foundation when it comes to feeling a bit more polished first thing. My latest obsession is Charlotte Tilbury’s Beautiful Skin Foundation, which comes with added skincare benefits to help you look healthy, hydrated and glowing. I’ve tried countless foundations in my career, but this one is really good – even the lightest coverage gives me that second-skin kind of finish that brightens up a sleep-deprived face without sitting in fine lines or on dry patches.
Fall Back On These Wellbeing Wonders
It’s not just my beauty routine that can perk me up first thing. I’m also a big fan of supplements to make me feel bright eyed with minimum effort. I make a habit of taking JS Health’s Vitality X Collagen Powder as often as I can. Unlike other marine collagens I’ve tried, it tastes genuinely delicious, and I notice my skin looks more hydrated and supple when I use it. Drinking a big glass of water before my morning coffee is also a quick way to feel instantly more awake. No morning is complete without a shot of Altrient Liposomal Vitamin C either. The encapsulated formula of this clinically studied vitamin C gel enables better absorption than you’d get from a simple tablet and, let’s face it, maintaining a robust immune system is the best and most fundamental way I can think of to feel great every morning.
