GO BEHIND THE SCENES HERE: Natural History Museum

There’s never been a better time to become a member at the Natural History Museum. This week, the museum unveiled The Anning Rooms, a members-only extension located over two floors in the iconic Waterhouse Towers, where guests can enjoy lunch in the private restaurant, retreat to the study with a coffee or take a closer look at some of the wonders in the cabinet of curiosities. We’re even a fan of the name, in honour of legendary fossil hunter Mary Anning.

TRY A NEW MENU HERE: Galvin at Windows

With an interior evoking the glamour of the 30s, Michelin-starred Galvin at Windows is renowned for its stunning views over the capital. As autumn approaches, the kitchen has launched a new menu that focuses on Korean ‘degustation’, a tasting menu of dishes chosen by Head Chef Joo Won. Comprising seven courses, dishes include raw kingfish, cucumber, kohlrabi and sweet chilli; deep-fried lobster tail, tofu, barley, courgette and soybean stew; and summer fruit salad, strawberry juice, melon ice cream and lemonade foam.

CELEBRATE WORLD AREPA DAY HERE: Arepa & Co

On 8th September, Arepa & Co, the home of Venezuelan cooking in London, is throwing open its doors and staying up late in honour of World Arepa Day. El Día Mundial de la Arepa is dedicated to the traditional Venezuelan street food and to celebrate, the team will be serving up theirs for just £1 with every main course ordered at their Bethnal Green site. They’re also be pouring cocktails with a Latin American twist all night long.

BOOK A BRAND-NEW FRIDAY LATE HERE: Flank

This weekend, chef Tom Griffith’s Flank launches LATES, a Friday-night pop-up at Old Spitalfields Market. Taking place each week of September and October, the nose-to-tail chef will rattle the pans from 6:30pm at the kitchen counter (serving up to ten guests at a time), alongside a short list of natural wines and craft beers. New plates will include the likes of fried chicken with burnt chilli sambal; aged duck with crispy rice; and baked dripping chips with chicken sauce and peas.

TRY A MEATY AFTERNOON TEA HERE: The Jugged Hare

This Saturday, Clerkenwell boozer The Jugged Hare will launch its Gentlemen’s Game Afternoon Tea. Not just for blokes, the tea will add a gamey twist to a British tradition: expect hare scones with horseradish cream and Cumberland sauce; partridge and bilberry muffins; grouse doughnuts; meat fruit pâté; bird buns and meaty finger sandwiches, alongside game chips. The tea will be served with a beer flight of three cask ales, as well as game consommé (served in a teapot).

HEAD TO A CEVICHE POP-UP HERE: Tate Modern

Martin Morales’ Ceviche is taking over the Tate Modern’s Level 9 restaurant for a one-off weekend residency, bringing the exciting flavours of Lima with him. The Ceviche team has created a special three-course menu in honour of end the gallery’s Picasso 1932:  Love, Fame, Tragedy exhibition. To celebrate, the gallery will have extended opening hours, making it the perfect place for a late-night viewing of Picasso, followed by a Pisco Sour.

WATCH A CLASSIC FILM HERE: Secret Market Screenings

St James’s Market is set to transform into an open-air cinema complete with a giant screen, red carpet and rows of authentic cinema. With a choice of three screenings across three days, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Kicking off Friday is out-of-this-world 80s movie E.T: The Extra-Terrestrial, followed by Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory on Saturday and finishing with the all-time classic Singing in the Rain on Sunday.
