May's Editor's Letter

What a month! With the release of our third edition of UltraLuxe, a dinner to celebrate Ascot’s King George weekend, a pre-loved designer sale in aid of the Royal Marsden, another SLMan takeover and the foundations of SheerLuxe in the Middle East, there has been little time to catch our breath. On SheerLuxe.com, I particularly enjoyed our fashion editor's conversation with Scandi cool girl Stine Goya and our lifestyle editor's guide to where to stay, eat and what to do in Madrid – a city I loved visiting last year. This month, I also learned a lot from the LuxeGirl podcast, which covered topics such as AI vocal manipulation, niche brand collaborations like Barbie x AirBnB, the best new documentaries (including Brooke Shields' exposé on the dangers of young Hollywood) and the correct (and incorrect) way to pronounce Nike.

At present, many of us are feeling a little more patriotic than usual. The impending coronation has prompted us to celebrate not only the Royal Family but everything wonderful about the UK with a best-of-British edition of SLMan. Expect spotlights on the coolest new fashion, an interview with a Savile Row legend, a round-up of the best fish and chips shops and grooming rules from our most traditional barbers.  

Elsewhere, the wheels are in motion for the SheerLuxe Spring Fair on 12th May, where for three days, you'll be able to shop our curated edit of the best small, emerging and independent brands – for less. I'm particularly excited to take our BTS cam behind-the-scenes at Chelsea Flower Show later this month and, with a New York trip in a couple of weeks, to visit the Karl Lagerfeld exhibition launched at last night's Met Gala; catch a stellar line-up of fashion experts discussing all the Met fashion on the show today.  

In other news, I was thrilled to find the perfect spring knit at ARKET this week – it's a textured, cream-colored loose knit and is giving Gabriela Hearst vibes. An ASOS slouchy raffia bag covered in enormous gold sequins has also made its way into my wardrobe, along with some baggy white boyfriend jeans from Raey. Now I just need to invest in the Jacquemus canvas sling-backs I've been eyeing up, and that's my transitional capsule sorted. Like everyone else, I am loving Curtis Sittenfeld's latest book, Romantic Comedy. If you're after an easy read, it's worth a go. Plus, those in-the-know have been raving about the new post-Impressionism exhibition at the National Gallery – it's gone straight on this month's to-do list.
