The Summer Workout: Barry’s x Ibiza

This summer, Barry’s Bootcamp is heading to Ibiza for a first-of-its-kind partnership with Pacha, bringing the world’s iconic strength and cardio interval training workout to Destino Pacha for a six-week residency, launching on 23rd July. The studio’s cult HIIT workout will be held at various times throughout the day, and guests will also receive a special room rate and complimentary access to the hotel’s day club. If you can’t get there, Barry’s will be hosting a series of themed classes and events across its Manchester and London studios throughout the summer too.

The Holistic Option: Bodyism

Bodyism’s members-only studio on Westbourne Grove offers mindful workouts, massages and alternative therapies, as well as a café serving locally sourced, seasonal produce (you’ll find us ordering the protein pancakes, every time), and has recently joined forces with the Effect Doctors to add proactive health care treatments into the mix. Book in for an IV drip to ease jet lag, kickstart recovery with a personalised PT programme or reach your fitness goals more quickly with the help of its health coaching concierge.

The Rest Day Workout: LDM

Stretching is one of those things we know we should be doing, but it often falls by the wayside. The perfect midweek reset, Louisa Drake’s new Stretch & Reset class is based around a foam roller and incorporates a range of techniques to increase mobility and flexibility. The virtual class starts with gentle low-impact movement and then moves on to deep static stretches and foam rolling. If your body feels tight, sore or in need of a stretch, the 45-minute class will aid relaxation and recovery and reduce your risk of injury.

The Pilates Platform: Fluidform

With studios in Byron Bay and Sydney, Fluidform has been leading the way in Australia’s Pilates scene since 2012, and recently launched an online studio. UK-based fans – including Millie Mackintosh and Lucy Williams – come back time and again to founder Kirsten King’s results-driven workouts. Fluidform At Home offers over 200 new workouts, challenges, cool-down stretches and more, as well as monthly meal plans. Just 20 minutes a day is all you need for a full-body workout and to create long, lean muscles, along with increased strength and flexibility.

The Buzz-Worthy Studio: Basis

Basis offers strength training, conditioning and functional fitness classes alongside breathwork, meditation and restoration. Believing that true fitness comes from a strong body and mind, its line-up of experts will help you take a 360° approach to your health. There’s also a separate open gym training space where members can train independently or with a PT, as well as the option to book in for nutritional coaching. Keep an eye out for workshops and masterclasses over the next few months – the Breath and Ice workshop is a must for any Wim Hof fans.

The Run Club: Third Space

If you haven’t got plans next Wednesday evening, book in at Third Space’s Running Lab at the Battersea Race Track. With expert coaching provided by GB athlete Chris Stanton and Under Armour athlete Emma Kirk Odunubi, the two-hour event will incorporate drills, technique analysis and sprint intervals. You’ll be split into small groups for more focused coaching and a winner will be named within each group, who will then receive a pair of On trainers. All attendees will also receive a goody bag full of treats from Natural Fitness Food, Nocco and Barebells.

The App: Byrd

Whether you’re working towards your first 5k, training for a marathon or looking for a fresh way to track your runs, Byrd is the app to download. Instead of displaying Strava-like stats, it measures your run by giving you ‘seeds’ – a reward for watching a sunrise, running in the rain, or running for three days in a row. The idea is that you accumulate these seeds, which work as an incentive to keep on running. If you’re someone who appreciates the headspace running offers, Byrd’s mindful approach won’t disappoint.
