A Day In The Life Of A Corporate Powerhouse
4.18am
This is the exact time that my alarm goes off. I’ve calculated that gives me exactly enough time to be ready for the gym. I am woken up either by my phone alarm or my Whoop band. The first thing I do when I wake up is check my phone. It's bad, I know, but I need to check that there have been no disasters overnight that need my attention. I then brush my teeth and put on some SPF. Garnier Ambre Solaire SPF 50+ Sensitive Advanced Sun Cream Face & Body is my current go-to. My morning soundtrack is anything by Beyoncé, I love the latest album even more after seeing her live. I also take a shot of Symprove before I leave.
4.50am
My gym is only a six-minute drive from my house. In summer I wear shorts and a bra top to work out in. Most of my kit comes from lululemon, Oner Active and Sweaty Betty. I work out a minimum of five times a week, mixing it up with cardio, strength training and PT sessions. When I am strength training, I wear Nike Metcons and for running, I wear Nike Journey.
6am
I have my protein shake as soon as I get back from the gym. It’s a mixture of protein powder, collagen and creatine with water. I then go and give my children a cuddle before heading into the shower. My favourite body wash is Naturium The Glow Getter Body Wash followed by the body butter. I go in quickly with a spritz of my favourite scent, Encelade by Marc-Antoine Barrois. On my face, I use Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant followed by Koba moisturiser. Make-up starts with Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder and I always use Fenty's foundation – it's the best. I use the By Terry eye liner and I mix blushers from Merit and NARS. Finally, I set everything with Charlotte Tilbury’s setting spray and in the evenings, I use the one from ONE/SIZE.
7am
I’m definitely a magpie but my style is also defined by clean lines. I find Lisa Ing Marinelli’s take on fashion really inspiring – she’s someone who also has a corporate job but embraces her personal style. If I had an endless budget, I would go to Tove every season. I just bought one of my favourite summer dresses from the brand. I’m also a big fan of Rejina Pyo. On the high street, I love COS and Massimo Dutti. I only give myself about ten minutes to get dressed before I have to leave the house – either to get the kids to school or catch the train to work.
8.10am
My commute is an hour from Surrey to my office in London Bridge. On the way I read, listen to a business podcast, answer emails, work on content or scroll on social media. I am currently reading The Power of Full Engagement by Jim Loehr on my Kindle. I will also read some stories from the industry site, Campaign, along with the FT and Bloomberg. I’m also listening to the Ladies Who Launch podcast with Rochelle Humes. I can’t leave the house without my Rare Beauty lip balm and my AirPods. My office is huge – kind of like a big campus as there are around 4,000 employees, so it always feels really buzzy. I work for a big marketing group. The office is a very light, airy space with great views of the Thames with a great rooftop canteen. I have some Greek yoghurt for breakfast when I get in, then it’s straight into meetings.
12pm
An early start to the day often means an early lunch. I love The Salad Project or if I want to get some steps in, I’ll walk across London Bridge to Atis or browse Borough Market. When I have a client meeting, I am a big fan of Caravan and Mortimer House. I never get a full hour for lunch but I will make sure I take little breaks throughout the day, even if it’s just to get some air on the roof. After lunch, it’s back to meetings. They are varied every day. Sometimes they’re with the rest of the leadership meeting and board or with my CEO to discuss our new business and marketing strategy. Then it could be meetings with prospective clients or my team. My afternoon snack is always a bag of sweet and salty popcorn.
4.30pm
I leave work to pick up the kids. I get home around 6pm and start to make them dinner. My Ninja air fryer is by far my favourite appliance in the kitchen. I will then help them with their homework. We sometimes have an evening nanny for the kids. This helps greatly when we have events, or my workload is quite intense. On average, I have two events a week. It could be a panel talk to do with My Bump Pay or sometimes we have awards ceremonies to attend. I love renting outfits from HURR or I’ll change into a great dress from Christie Brown. Shoes are something that I splurge on from; I recently got a great Bottega Veneta pair from Bicester Village. My evening bags are always from ASOS.
8pm
I'm not a big TV watcher. After putting the kids to bed, I log back on to work. I will work from the kitchen table on my laptop to tie up any loose ends and respond to any emails about My Bump Pay or my speaking engagements. If I do watch some TV, it is about ten minutes of The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills or Love Is Blind UK before I get bored. I then make sure all the kids' clothes for school and any activities are ready for the next day. My CurrentBody LED Light Therapy Face Mask and a magnesium salt bath are both part of my wind-down routine.
9pm
I have one last scroll before bed. I respond to any DMs that I received during the day and then put my phone down. On my bedside table I have my jewellery tray with all the pieces I’ve worn that day. I love chunky jewellery from Anisa Sojka. I have my Kindle – I recently finished Build The Life You Want by Harvard Professor Arthur C. Brooks and Oprah Winfrey. I am navel pulling at the moment, so that kit is also there. I put castor oil in my belly button and then use a sticker to tape it down. It’s to aid with bloating and digestion – I definitely feel lighter in the mornings.
