If I could only buy homeware from one place, it would be Restoration Hardware. I love the earthy palette and organic shapes throughout the collection. The obsession is real right now… But the most interesting interiors shop is Rose Uniacke. Its showroom on Pimlico Road is a heavenly mix of authentic antique pieces and exclusive designs. I really like the laid-back luxe aesthetic.
The best department store for homeware is Peter Jones for everyday things (glassware, cutlery etc) and Harrods for more luxury brands. It has an entire floor dedicated to homeware which makes shopping a lot easier!
The coolest independent brand right now is Every Story. Founded by two sisters, it handmakes beautiful ceramics. The pieces are so delicate and beautiful – I will definitely be adding a few to our collection when our renovation is complete.
I find so many talented designers and makers on Instagram. And whenever I have reached out to an artist, they have always been so lovely and accommodating. I also meet a lot of makers and designers while travelling. I tend to seek out independent galleries or talk to locals to find out where they can be found.
My perfect shopping day would include many hours wandering around antique markets and small galleries in France. The best vintage stores in the world are in the side streets of Paris. My favourite vintage pieces include the bobbins lamp I found at an antiques market a few weeks ago.
Rose Uniacke
For sustainability, I really admire Coral & Hive. It’s a master of handwoven natural-fibre rugs. I fall in love with all of its designs. It will also do custom designs, so the possibilities are endless.
For something really special, I go to Invisible Collection. It has a great selection of designers across furniture, lighting and accessories. It’s at the higher end of things, but I am constantly swooning over everything.
The best interiors gift I’ve ever received was an original silver cutlery set from my fiancé’s grandmother – if my house was burning down, that’s what I’d save! It was a gift to her on her wedding day, and now we have it. I love filling our home with meaningful pieces.
RESTORATION HARDWARE
We are about to start the renovation of our flat and I think the most expensive investment will be the Calacatta marble for our kitchen. I do like entertaining and, for the table, I like to mix between independent ceramic artists for one-of-a-kind pieces, such as Every Studio, and Zara Home and Neptune for chic yet affordable everyday pieces.
I like to treat myself when it comes to bedding. For something special, I love the quality of Scooms linen. It’s a smaller, local brand that’s nailed its natural bedding range. From the softness of the cotton and linen to the delicate mother-of-pearl buttons, it has created the perfect range. I hear its duvets and pillows are heaven, so they are next on my list.
Upcoming artists excite me and I love to seek them out. Recently I discovered Alexandra Wong. She has mastered the ability to play on depth, textures, tones and culture. I also like simple line drawings inspired by Matisse or abstract painting which can be found at local art fairs, such as the Affordable Art Fair, or at antique markets across the UK such as Ardingly, or online – check out Vinterior.
For soft furnishings I love de le Cuona. It has the dreamiest collection of textures, and the colour palette has literally dripped off the plains of Africa. One of the key elements to creating a harmonious and balanced space is to layer natural textures.
Lighting plays such a key role in any room scheme. I often turn to Kelly Wearstler, Garnier & Linker or, for more investment pieces, Apparatus Studio. All three have such great collections of ceiling, wall and table lights, but I am especially drawn to anything that’s more sculptural.
