Laura Stephens says…
“I wanted to create a blue on blue scheme inspired by the east coast of America that felt glamorous, with a mix of florals, stripes and rattan. The leopard-print outdoor cushion adds a little edge and the ceramic bust planter is a playful twist.”

Katharine Paravicini says…
“I envisaged a pretty dining terrace at a London house and added interest with different finishes, colour and pattern. Different levels of lighting are important in an outdoor space. The rechargeable lamp could be brought outside for the evening. I don’t love that heavy-looking rattan garden furniture you see so much, but these dining chairs from Paulo Moschino are great – and I’ve deliberately steered away from a matching dining ‘set’. I’d also add some big terracotta pots and fill them with Erigeron daisies, which flower throughout the summer.”
Antonia Winkler von Stiernhielm says…
“Gardens often get overlooked, but done well they are almost like adding another room to the house. This can be a big investment though, so we’ve created a design that will stand the test of time. Blending traditional elements with modern form and functionality creates a space that feels elegant but incredibly inviting. The colour palette is strict in order to create a calm environment in which the client can relax and read a book, while the portable lamp and candle light will encourage conversation to carry on long into the evening.”

Joanna Wood says…
“Outdoor fabrics need to be as sturdy as possible, especially given the unpredictability of the English summer. I love mixing striped fabrics or palm prints with the dark green of the canvas material – perfect for outdoor cushions. Add in some bamboo or this Abaca fabric to make it feel like you're beachside.”
