Chiara Perano

It was Chiara’s nostalgic artwork celebrating ‘La Dolce Vita’ that first caught our attention, but since then we’ve discovered her hand-painted vases and tile designs. Capturing the essence of Italy and the tradition of painted pottery, but with simple, playful designs in clean, fresh colours, her bespoke vases are a welcome addition to any shelf or table top.

Cressida Bell

Cressida Bell’s Bloomsbury influences come directly through her family line – her aunt was Virginia Woolf and her grandmother was a painter, interior designer and central figure of the group, Vanessa Bell. Using bold strokes and bright colours, Cressida’s lamps and shades are unique – each one is screen printed onto a specialised paper coolie and then hand-painted in her London studio. Visit her studio by appointment to see her work in progress.

THE EDITION 94

Jess Wheeler

Designer and artist Jess Wheeler works across a variety of disciplines to bring her nostalgic, nature-driven vision to life. The natural world influences every element of her work, from the petals on her tablecloths, to the Welsh pebbles around which she moulds her clay bowls. Alex Eagle has a wonderful selection of handmade homewares translating Jess’s imagery into ceramics, table linen and drawings, while The Edition 94 offers cheerful, hand-painted floral trays. Be sure to keep an eye on Jess’s website for news of upcoming projects.

Madeleine Bradbury

Inspired by the spirit of The Bloomsbury Group again, Madeleine Bradbury hand-paints lamps, shades and furniture, working on commission to create bespoke future heirlooms and made-to-order products. Her abstract designs, all of which come in a muted colour palette, serve as easy decorative accents which won’t overwhelm a space.

Petra Palumbo

Based in the Scottish Highlands, Petra Palumbo is a sustainable homeware brand founded by its eponymous designer. Tapping into her Lebanese roots, Petra considers the table to be the heart of the home, and her hand-painted glassware celebrates the time spent around the table. Expect floral designs with delicately replicated petals and leaves, and a modern take on Delft tiles. Look out for the relaunch of her e-shop and a new flagship store opening later this year in Beauly, Scotland.

Tess Newall

With a background as a set designer across the worlds of film and fashion, decorative artist Tess Newall takes commissions for domestic interiors, designing the schemes herself or incorporating her client’s own references. Inspired by historical patterns, but with a playful, whimsical quality, there’s a folk-like charm to her work. Her chair collaboration with Ceraudo is unmissable, while fans should look out for her hand-painted Wicklewood lampshades, too.
