What Stylish Women Are Buying For Spring

Spring’s just around the corner, so it might be time to update your wardrobe with some new pieces. In need of some inspiration? We asked some of Instagram’s most stylish women what they’re shopping for this season…

Marianne Smyth @SmythSisters

I have plenty of off-white jumpers, but a pure white one is something my wardrobe is missing – nothing says spring/summer like crisp white in my opinion, so I’ve got my eye on this sweatshirt. I’d go up a couple of sizes to nail that relaxed look and throw it on with a pair of baggy jeans for an easy, chic daytime look. When it comes to footwear, I love boots all year round, even if they’re not typically associated with spring. That said, black can be a bit harsh at this time of year, so I’ll be opting for these beige suede ones instead. I’ve been after a pair of suede boots for a while and they’re the perfect shape. I’ll be teaming them with my 90s Agolde jeans and an oversized tee, like this striped one. I’ve got a real thing for relaxed fit t-shirts and this one looks like a great fit. I’m looking forward to pairing it with dad style trousers, a waist belt and sandals by The Row.

Lindsey Holland @LindseyHolland

This season, it’s all about shopping for pieces I know I’ll be able to wear in multiple ways. I recently bought this top, as I fell in love with the simple cut and colour of it. I’m excited to wear it layered under a blazer, or alone with jeans in the milder weather. Spring also signals the start of bare ankle season, so I’ll be investing in a good pair of flats. I love the versatility of a loafer, as they work with everything, from shorts, to jeans and midi dresses – this colour will go with everything and it’s a softer option than black.

Eni Ilori @EnisWardrobe

Sandals are one of my favourite things to wear, and not just in the summer – you’ll find me getting them out as soon as the weather starts to warm up. I’ve had my eye on these Chanel ones for a while – they’re obviously quite trendy, and have been popular for the past couple of years, but I still love them; they’re so versatile and quite a unique shape. In terms of brands, Aje is a new favourite of mine. I’ve seen this dress on quite a few others and I love the cut-out detail – I’ll be pairing it with heels for a dinner out with friends (when we can), but until then, I’ll be styling it more casually with some trainers.

Mette Sorrig @MSorrig

One of the best things about spring is being able to wear pretty blouses again and this one by & Other Stories is gorgeous. With its flattering square neckline and puff sleeves, it’ll be an easy one to throw on with jeans and sandals for a feminine daytime look. I’ll also be investing in some cool accessories – for example, this detachable collar from Arket. A collar is something that works with so many pieces, from dresses to sweatshirts, and it’s an easy way to add interest to your look. You can’t go wrong with a fedora either – I love Lack of Color’s hats and this blush pink design will liven up a variety of outfits.

Naaomi Ross @NaaomiRoss

When it comes to spring style, a trench coat might be one of the first things that come to mind but I’m also really excited about incorporating some relaxed tailoring into my outfits. These trousers by Arket will be the perfect addition to my new season wardrobe as they’ve still got the comfort factor with an elasticated waist, but have that sleek feeling of a tailored trouser for an effortlessly cool look. Wear them with a fresh pair of sneakers for high/low balance, and speaking of, I love starting spring with a box fresh pair of white sneakers, too – to me, it’s akin to the excitement of starting a new school term with a new pencil case. I can attest to the Air Max design by Nike – it’s so comfortable and durable, and they make any outfit feel a bit cooler.

Rachel Ingram @RachelIngramRabin

I just bought my spring/summer sandals – yes, I know it’s February, but I like to get in early before things sell out! I predict Hermes’ ‘Ankara is going to be the Chanel dad sandal of 2021, so I’ve snapped them up now before they’re impossible to track down. They were soldout online, so Threads Styling (where I'm Editor-in-Chief) sourced them for me. I love how simple, versatile and easy to slip on and off they are, which means I’ll wear them until the end of the summer. Clothes-wise, I’m really into matching separates – this neutral set is by one of my favourite brands of the moment, Le 17 Septembre, and is something I know I’ll never want to take off. A tonal look is always chic, so I’ll be pairing this with a tan sandal and woven tote once the sun starts to shine.

Debora Rosa @DeboraBRosa

A new season is a great time to update your handbag and while black might not scream ‘spring’, this one’s not any old black bag. The irregular shape makes it feel a bit artsy and chic, while still being easy to wear. I won’t be ditching jumpers anytime soon as it’s not quite bare arm weather yet, but this Jacquemus cardigan puts a fresh twist on knitwear. I love that you can layer it up now with a vest or t-shirt underneath, and when the summer comes it’ll be perfect on its own for breezy evenings. Finally, I’m on the hunt for a new pair of trainers. I’m usually a Converse devotee, but I fancy something a bit different that’s still versatile – these Adidas Campus sneakers are just the ticket.

Dione Davis @DioneMDavis

Before the pandemic, I'd started experimenting with shorter hemlines to contrast the plethora of oversized items in my closet. This Jacquemus dress paired with an oversized blazer and kitten heels makes a great first date outfit, but I found I never strayed too far from tailoring. I repeatedly vow never to buy another blazer because I have so many, but then Tibi made this one and I had to have it. I justified it because of the emotions I had trying it on – I felt so strong and elegant, and the only time I will really splurge on clothes is when I feel that way. Wearing this on a Zoom call would definitely give me some confidence for an important work meeting. I’m also particularly excited about these Orseund Iris trousers, which I have on pre-order. They really appeal to the functional side of my brain as well as looking beautiful – as a stylist, I know I could wear these on set and fill the pockets with tools, but I’d also wear them out on a walk and fill them with sunscreen, a charger and maybe even some snacks.
